Remember that rug I was looking for and you found it on sale with no shipping at Payless Rugs? Well, I ordered it even though their picture made the background look brown, not black and had very pronounced blue, unlike the pic in the catalog that I originally posted. Once I placed the order the confirmation showed a ship date after the first of the year :( A day or so later a new email shows it as being shipped !!! Yippee! It just arrived, couldn't wait to see it and IT-IS-PERFECT! There is blue in it but also the green that I wanted. Heading out now to get the non-skid stuff for underneath. This is a main thoroughfare in our house so it's seen and walked on all the time - it looks great, was well priced and should wear well. Thanks again!

Looks wonderful~ I'd be interested in knowing what type of pad you purchase to keep it in place. I have some that do not work and the rugs tend to slide.

BTW, are those framed hankerchiefs to the left of the rug? Can I see, pretty please?

Thanks for the kind words. I am in awe of her. And I am so relieved to be posting about her recovery. I got word about an hour ago about a woman in our community that just died as a result of her eating disorder. I can't help but worry that it was one of the "girls" in the support group we attended.They are all so courageous. The email talked about a special meeting of the support group, so I am guessing that it was.It is heartbreaking. Magothy River girl- good memory- yes it was a few months after my DD was diagnosed. A week before the semester started her junior year, her sorority sister died suddenly of a pulmonary embolism. The funeral was the first day of classes. Rough times. But hey sleep is way over rated. I hope that posting here may be helpful to some of the parents on the board. There truly is such a thing as recovery from eating disorders, even though some literature says not.

ky la: Thank you for sharing your father's obituary. When I read it it brought back memories of growing up in Boise and visiting my older brother who went to school at ISU in Pocatello. Your father sounds like a terrific man who certainly left this world way too early. I know that I can tell you the obvious, that you should not blame yourself, that there is no reason to feel guilt. You will have many folks telling you this, but the olny thing that will really ease those terrible feelings is time. Know that with time things will become easier. Know that different folks greive in different ways. A person who outwardly appears to be in complete control may just be torn up inside... it's hard to tell. I'm sorry about your dad. If he were anything like a number of the fine folks I grew up with in Southern Idaho, then I know that the world is a lesser place with his passing. --in my thoughts, --John

Well Lou, the table actually had a very large board that came with it but for big cooking we just cleared off the whole table and went at it right on the table. Sometimes the board would be used to put some of the ravioli and such on when we ran out of the five feet. Smiles. Oh yes, I sure had fork duty. And I am an expert at rolling the gnocchi with a fork. She had her own method where you would push on the gnocchi sitting on the table with just the right pressure and a deft swish and it would roll perfectly. Yes, the macaroni was rolled with a long dowel one of her sons cut for her. Just remembered: The board was used if company was coming for polenta, otherwise when her family had it for dinner they just poured the polenta on the middle of the table, covered it with the sauce with the sausage and such and the kids all had spoons. That's a memory of my Mothers.

My Cuisinart was from my mom, I know she got it for Christmas when they first came out, probably mid to late seventies. She used it maybe once, I was the one who always used it so when they moved and pared down I got it for my new house. The shaft is cracked but Johnliu showed me a Web site where I could order a new one, but with grad. school and all my odd jobs going, who knows when I will find the time. BF and I got so inspired by the backsplash experience that we are redoing my tub/shower surround. It's not an easy job since it is a "vintage" tub and we don't want to go through the trouble of ripping it out and replumbing due to the bathroom's tiny size and the tub's odd yet perfect dimensions. So we're also redoing with vintage fixtures if we can figure out how to plumb it. The current bad modernization is a Rube Goldberg masterpiece! John, sounds like we were doing the same thing as you guys this weekend! Sunday was gorgeous and we spent the whole day outside trying to get a handle on my yard, and then we had our first of the year outside meal, and then christened our new fire pit!

The trick with the rug pads is to cut them exactly the width and length. Any shorter and it seems to skid

arapaho I bought whatever is in our local independent hardware/lumber yard and already tossed the package before seeing this - sorry. It seems to have enough grip, though.

Dee those are my grandmas everyday hankies. The fancy, lace, show-not-blow ones are hanging in my BR. Will get pics for you but that hallway makes it almost impossible - I'll figure something out.

Thank you so much, Deb. They're just beautiful. I think I have a couple of your patterned ones - Hankie of the Month!

I especially like how delicate and pretty the white ones are. These kinds of things definitely make one's home unique. I have one of my grandmother's and one of DH's grandmother's crocheted doillies framed and hung together. It seems strange to tell my grandson and granddaughter that their great-great grandmothers did them.

You're very thoughtful to have looked up those pictures.
