Your remodel looks great! Isn't it wonderful to have an "almost new" kitchen!! If you could use the same swag curtain like you have by the bar area window for your window over the sink, I think it would look more unified.

Perhaps a simple straight fabric-covered cornice would work over your sink?

Great work on the kitchen! It looks like the scarf is so compressed/thin that it gets lost. How about a straight valance-length treatment, or a valance that is slightly scalloped at the base so that it's more similar to your other treatment?

I need advice on the barstools, i noticed that i have way too much brown in the eat-in-kitchen area. I picked up some crackle paint and was thinking about crackling the barstools, I just put the new covers on them so those won't change. Should i put the crackle directly over the wood and then paint so the wood shows throw? and what color would you suggest? white, wall color (tannish/gold), totally different contrast color? I replaced the throw rugs today with beautiful oriental half circle rugs in front of the sink and back door and fixed the swag over my sink by lowering the center and making it a lot fuller, i think it looks much better. Just a thought, the area above the microwave would be a good place to put in a piece of thin crown molding across the top of the wide white shelve and a decorative wood relief then paint both the crown and the relief in white. I think we paid about $12 for our relief and it really brings the cabinet up more than a few notchs and its so simple to apply even novice could do it. I absolutly love your wallcolor and curtain color and pattern .Its got me eyeballing my kitchen and thinking about repainting. If you would like I can post a pic. of my relief although mine is stained not painted. I wish I had though about doing what you did and just building a shelve about the microwave/hood. We put a cabinet above it and its to tall to use and just doesn,t look right.

Madyna: I'd love to see pictures of your relief. Everytime i go to home depot i look at them and just never seem to pick one up. Next time i think i will. the crowning moulding idea is great thanks for the suggestion. I really think the wall color came out great, i had such a hard time picking it out, this is the fourth try on wall color and i think i finally got it right. The curtains were another problem. I bought the remaining fabric on the bolt at the fabric store so they had none left. I made the first curtain in the eat-in-kitchen area and had only so much left over, so that is where the scarf over the sink came in. I did adjust it to make it much fuller by bringing the top of the curtain up to the top of the white trim so it scoops down much fuller now. What is on the back wall of your cabinets with the glass? They are lovely by the way.

Madeyna: I'm definetly going to get a relief for over the microwave, yours looks great. The upper wall color is from Behr, its Wilmington Tan. You said that is a picture of your kitchen before it was done, it looks great in that picture, what did you do to it now? i'd love to see some pictures of the re-do. To finish off our kitchen, we just purchased a new GE profile freestanding double oven/range in all black!!! i'm excited (tells you what an exciting life i have being excited over appliances!!! LOL).

Love2decorate: The back of the wall in the glass front cabinets is a reflection of the glass. they are only painted white. the glass is seeded glass, which is beautiful. i got the idea from a post on this site from Reno_fan's kitchen. Love them, we had regular glass in their, but when my husband was putting the crown moulding on the cabinets, he broke the glass (i was so happy about that, as i wanted to replace the glass for a while), so we purchsed the seeded glass through a local glass company and the price was not bad for a 24x19 piece it was 53.00 each.

I that pic. the area around the dishwasher hasn,t been finished out yet and the plate rack is still sitting in a box in the pantry waiting for me to stain it. The dark newl post you see are pull out racks and in that pick two are just kind of sitting there. I love that water glass . We wanted to use it in the corner cab and the area above the plate rack but before we got around to having the doors made glass ready he transfered jobs so the house is up for sale. I hope you don,t mind if I borrow your paint color I think it would be perfect for my enty wall.
