hinge on left is a "face frame cup hinge"- other names exist hinge on right is "euro hinge" other names exist In both cases there are at least 6 mfgs who have up to dozens of variations of swing, cabinet clip, attachment... What do you really need to know? Soft close hinges- newest and most common the soft close is built into the hinge. Older ones had a piston mounted in the cabinet for the door to hit on closing. You might be able to clean them- carefully- no solvents, no WD40 (which is a solvent) but unlikely. On newer glides the soft close mechanisms is integral and can't really be repaired. The older (over 5 years) could be replaced if they were blum. Note that dust can be the death of undermount glides. Sawdust from install not cleaned or worse, granite dust and often the glides will have to be replaced. Keep after your installers.

Thank you everyone. We have a local cabinetmaker making these cabinets, but he has only done inset doors once before and used Euro hinges on them. For our inset cabinets in the dining room we want visible hinges that at least look like mortised hinges so that the cabinets look like ones that were originally in this 100 year old house. We thought it best to avoid mortised since it cannot be changed easily if there is an error. nyc_sport, I think she is looking for that type, but with self-closure AND finials simultaneously, which is the catch? Wren, are you totally sold on the self-closing aspect? I'm not a big fan, personally -- I hate having to use my elbow to keep a cupboard door open while I frantically rummage, the raw chicken leg dripping in my other hand ... I would worry about drilling new holes, too. Is it the finish of the hinges you don't like, or the whole style or functionality? If it's just the finish, I'd try giving them a good cleaning and then painting with a good metal paint. Then you know you'll have the perfect size. If that's not the issue, many people have had good luck with sources like Lee Valley hardware. (leevalley.com). They have an online catalog that has several pages of hinges.
