Lv Rm - need Help! new furniture need to make it work/colors?

I recently bought some new living room furniture (from fabric swatches) and once I got it home I loved the two sitting chairs but not the sofa - it seems too gold. I can't return as was custom. Please help me make this room work! I am disappointed with myself for buying expensive furniture and not liking it. The room opposite this is dining room SW rainwashed - I put pic in album with the furniture in there for comparison purposes

I love blues, greens and I want this room to be relaxing and light- no dark colors.

please can you help me...throw pillows- color? paint - color and window treatments. Paint swatch behind couch is currently SW Filmy Green. Please help - I'm going nuts trying to "fix" this rooom. Thanks!!

Oh no....I think the sofa is a wonderful tone! Not too dark at all. I love the way it's the same tone (or pretty similar) to the leaves on the chairs. I was really expecting something awful...not wonderful lol!

I think you did very well. Paint can be changed if you feel it needs tweaking since the sofa is different that what you pictured.

I like the blue paint sample too. Why not start painting? I think it'll be a great looking room. Sometimes we experience what I call "happy mistakes"! I had that happen once with wood blinds. I stupidly ordered the wrong color (# problem) and they probably looked a lot better than what I had meant to order lol.

This is BM Roxbury Caramel. It may work below the chairrail. It's a very pretty color in person. I cannot tell exactly from my monitor, but I would go with a lighter color on top. Be careful which tan/gold you choose. I see that you have some red tones in the wooden chairs and the floor. Any beige/ gold color with green tones will look pukey on your walls. You need to choose a goldish color with red/orange undertones in it. How about BM Adobe Dust for the bottom, and BM Shaker Beige for the top? Not sure how the Adobe Dust would work with your red accents. It sure would make your room happy. I love your colors. I also like the color in your rug-the area with the darker tan flower with some type of red/burgundy thingy. Those 2 colors would look great IMO. Here is a link that might be useful:

Making new patio furniture cushions - need advice! (with photo)

Hi Carol, You can do this! The first time I made cushions I was scared, but my DD (in college 12 years ago) bought 2 chairs and wanted cushions for them, and she was sure I could do it. I did!!!! I bought the 4" green foam for the chair backs and the 5" green foam for the seats. I bought both from JoAnns and had no probelm with it. In fact I have a small mattress I made with the green foam (NOT Nu Foam) and it has held up very well. Grandson likes to sleep on it. We have a place here in MIchigan called THE FOAM FACTORY, that is all they sell. If you bring in your slip covers they will cut the foam to fit and stuff it for you. YOu should do a search for something like that in your area. Probably would be cheaper than an upholstery shop. I believe they ship too. Here is a trick for stuffing foam into slipcovers. Place the foam in a dry cleaners plastic bag (or cheap garbage bag), pull slipcover over the cushion, then tear out the bag from inside! Makes it so much easier. My daughter and I were out today and bought the original print fabric to make one large pillow for the sofa. She also picked out a solid color fabric in the darker green that's in the print for another slightly smaller pillow. I liked a stripe that coordinated well, but she says she wants to keep things simple. She has also decided to use the rug from IKEA. Haven't purchased it yet, tho. End tables, coffee table and lamps will be the next choices to make.

Thank you so much, however, my floors are a rustic beige and walls are SW Relist Beige. I'm afraid I may need warmer colors. I see my photo unfortunately made it look more grey than it is. I'll try to take a photo that reflects the more true color.

I think the sofa (and everything else....) looks great! I do like the blue on the wall...it's just a bit too 'baby blue' for me personally but maybe it's the camera flash. Is it the same color you have in the DR? I even like your DR drapes with the LR furniture.

I think it's absolutely beautiful and I love the couch color! I'm so partial to light colors that I consider medium tones 'too dark' and I don't think your couch is too dark at all. I think everything coordinates beautifully...it all looks $$$$ and classy! I like the current wall color with the furniture but love the blue as well. Give yourself a couple of days and you'll love the couch as well!

yes, it needs to be all drawn together with a blue but I would go a bit more muted to the sagey side of blue. blue can sometimes end up looking too too blue. But a blue is a great choice and it will look very pretty, all of it. good luck. I also like the idea of putting a bit of the blue in your ceiling color to to make it all serene looking and not broken up by a white ceiling staring out at you.

I think once the walls are painted you will be in love with your furniture. I like the color of the blue swatch that you have painted above the sofa.
