It looks wonderful! I love the Oriental tray and the arrangement as a whole really complements the carpet and sofa. Do you have a picture of the coffee table that shows more of the room?

As I've said many times before, your home is like a beautiful jewel box to me. You've done it once again, My3dogs, creating another drop-dead gorgeous place in your home. Lovely! The composition works wonderfully with the room, the table and the (sigh!) sofa. Congrats.

You all are too kind! It took longer to wipe the dust off the vases/pots and tray than it did to stick leaves and berries into one of them. Luckily for now, I remembered that I had those things, til I can put more thought into it.

Ingrid, the room is long and narrow - 10x25. Here is a wider shot of the table, with now Joey on the sofa, which is very popular with the doggie set.

Here I am standing about midway in the room facing the street in the front of the house. Jenny is watching me.

And here is a bad shot of the back of the room, which overlooks a small river. I can never get a good shot here due to the sun coming in the back window. I tried to adjust the exposure and just made it worse! That's Sam on the loveseat and now Joey is on the floor. His back end is where the coffee table starts.

The toile fabric on the loveseat is from eBay, too! That's a throw on the seat to protect the fabric. The antique Irish pine cupboard in the left corner is from a consignment shop. The secretary on the right is from eBay as is everything on it.

Truly, a very large percentage of this house is furnished via eBay, Craigslist, a consignment shop and hand-me downs. All window treatments and pillows are home made with bargain fabrics. The 'lynx' throw on the sofa is made from beautiful 'fur' from WalMart, along with the cozy fleece that backs it.

Both lamps you see on the right are from eBay and the Chinoiserie desk in the middle shot above is from the same consignment store where the pine cupboard came from. It's one heck of a mix, but it works for me!

ajasmama, Yes that large Karastan under the coffee table is from eBay, as is this new all wool Couristan I got earlier this year in my dining room. I later saw it advertised in Traditional Home! The Hitchcock chairs are from eBay as is the chandelier and its shades.

Ahhhh just so pretty. Love to look at photos of your rooms( and Sam and Joey of course) So inviting.

My3dogs, I'm sure your dogs added to it, but it was the overall warmth & comfort that the room exuded that got me! I *love* the loveseat or setee, and the way it all just blends together so nicely. You definitely have a gift, that's for sure!

I've got it... You know how there are people who SELL things for you on ebay? My3dogs can start an ebay BUYING business! She just needs to visit each of our homes, see what we need, and buy it on ebay for us. Then come back to our houses and arrange it for us. Good idea, huh?

Love it .. very pretty. Your dogs are cracking me up. I have one on my shoulder right now. Well have on the windowsill and have on my shoulder. The other one is sprawled on the sofa nearby.

Love your rooms! I gravitate towards warm colors myself so I think yours look great. Do you mind me asking what colors are on your walls in the LR? Also, you've got me perusing ebay but I just can't seem to get the hang of it. How did you learn to navigate it so well and be so successful?

I will join in here after seeing your lovely new table a couple of days ago and now you've found just the right things to pull it all together. You just never disappoint with your decorating skills, you're amazing!!! There is just nothing that I don't like in the two rooms.

Ah yes!! NOW the room looks even more comfy with the addition of the three dogs AND the pretty coffee table! LOL!

Awesome. I just love your house. I'll admit I when I first saw a pic of that coffee table it didn't sing to me. I actually didn't expect (After seeing some of your pictures)you to pick that? However, it looks really good with your new couch. You have such a great eye with decorating!

You do have a gift for finding things on ebay and incorporating them beautifully. And you live in Maine! (I was born there but my family moved when I was young.)

lorriekay, Jenny is my 'shoulder dog'. When I adopted her from the shelter, she blended in immediately with the boys, and slept on my shoulder that first night. She has cuddled close every night since. I don't know what I'd do without my little girl, who shows me every day how happy she is to be part of this family.

arapaho, the colors are Ben Moore's Baked Terra Cotta below the chair rail and their Philadelphia Cream above. The last shot does not show them correctly, as I tried to adjust the exposure, but the other two do. Spending time on eBay was the way I got to used to it...lots of time, but I have learned a LOT. Not just how to bid, but actually been educated on the types of things I buy. I'll start down one path, by looking for an item, and then see that a seller has something else, and veer down another path. It's a very 'zigzag' trail, if I were to map it out.

It's a hobby that has turned into a passion, as it fuels my love of decorating inexpensively. I cannot tell you how many times I have bought something and then found it selling for hundreds more elsewhere, as in the case of this table. Imagine the thrill of winning it for $341 on eBay, and later seeing two more on 1stdibs, for $1000 from one seller and $1575 from another.

Same with Craigslist, which I discovered a few years ago. I'll thank my lucky stars for the rest of my life for finding these 30" tall hand painted wooden lamps below on CL, and buying the pair for $35! They are incredible quality, and try as I might, I have not seen anything similar anywhere. Vintage often = unique, and that I love. In the photo below, everything except for the clock, the pheasant, and the 'seed ball' came from eBay or CL. The antique Ogee mirror was $16.00, and I added the gold and black touches to it.

I have always liked warm colors and adding blue in the entry and dining room was a stretch, but I needed to break out of my comfort zone, and experiment. The three dogs add warmth and nuttiness to any room, so I'm happy with it. Sharing my babies with fellow pet lovers here is a thrill!

sheesharee, I can easily understand you questioning the table. Years ago, I may not have looked at it twice. I have 'refined' my taste over the years, and this one, with it's small size and simplicity, just struck me. To me, it appears classic and refined, (Two things you might not think of if you knew me!) and I love it with this sofa. But, it may not work with my other chenille one, which is in the basement right now. I think that one needs more weight in a table. As I sit here in my office, I look out to the living room, and seeing this one against the nail heads of the leather CL sofa, it's singing my song! :-)

I had looked for many weeks for a coffee table, and not stepped one foot into a local store. I confined my search to online (eBay and CL mostly) because the ones in the stores are too large, too pricey and I will take vintage or antique ANY day of the week over new. It's just the way I have evolved. To me, those older things have a built in warmth, and often are made better than similarly priced items new.

Since you became a Garden Web decorating forum member I don't want to tell you how much time I have spent on Ebay and CL. All unsecsesful I admit. You truly have a gift.

Every picture is exquisite, and your furniture is phenomenal. It all has so much personality, and shows the love and passion you've put into your home. And of course the doggies add the finishing touch. Whatever would we do without our animals?
