I'm not sure since it is not a close up shot but the grey/white subway tile looks as if it might blend in beautifully. The last tile shown would also work well if the grey/white is not a good blend. Neither are too busy. Good Luck.

Butttt, I think your kitchen looks great, "AS IS", without the backsplash.

The paint color, (To Me), sets off both the cabinets as well as the countertops, anything else, (again to me) will detract from the XLNT look that you have now.

Yea, I know, "A Backsplash--here's your chance to be creative", "Express Yourself" ta da blah blah blah etc etc.

If it aint broke, don't mess with it!!!

I love the look of the "plain, bone-colored" subway. No crackle. Clean and creamy. They are all nice but that one jumps out at me.

your kitchen has a nice earthiness with all the wood and darker pulls. i like the bone-- it seems less glossy than the others?? still-- the beautiful wood speaks for itself and i think you're right to go simple on the tile.

Can you post the closeup of your laminate again? I'm not sure if I really like any of them, but I could be remembering your counters wrongly.

Love the choices and your kitchen is beautiful. Can you post pics of your samples on the counter so we can see both together. I like then last one but it is hard to tell without the countertops.

What do you have on your ceiling? I've never seen anything like it - is it a plaster design? Given the ceiling/floor/cabs, I tend to agree with Dodge that simple paint might be the best bet, but otherwise yes, probably the plainer the better - although I'd likely stay away from the matte stone look.

I think the warmer one...the one where it says "It's more gloss" would look great in your kitchen. IIRC, your counters had some warm tones in them.

Ok, one more idea...I agree with the PPs that your painted backsplash that you have now looks great. But if you are anything like me, living with a painted backsplash is not fun. I'm getting water, food and grim behind the counters and I really need something there for functionality. What about a simple, solid ceramic tile in the same color as your wall paint?

I also like the color of your walls and wonder about a colored tile (sorry I know that's not what you asked...)

I agree with regina and kmmh. You have lived with the green for a few years now. It does look nice with the cabinets and the counter. Your counters appear to have a greenish tint and blend nicely with your wall color. Yet,
I remember that green was not one of the colors you mentioned. Would you consider something in the green family?
Re Gary, we are all conditioned here to install backsplashes.(Get with the program LOL)) Although regmoses kitchen is lovely as is, a backsplash will finish it off if she can find a tile she is happy with.

I do feel that my kitchen needs a backsplash in order to feel finished. Especially since I had my laminate made with no pre-fab 3" backsplash molded on. But thank you for the nice comments about the green. I love that color and have it in the adjoining dining room (with faux wainscoting) and the adjoining family room - so the green is staying for now. I would like to pick backsplash tile, though, that will allow me to repaint this area of the house someday :) I'm scared of making a big color commitment in tile.

What brand is the bone subway? It sure looks nice!

LOL Circuspeanut! that is the texture treatment they do on ceilings in this part of the country (I think regmoses said she was in KY). It is a quick way of finishing the ceilings without requiring perfection on the part of the contractor. I have it too- it is hard to find homes without it here! It is not noticable IRL, but camera flashes make it look more textured.

Calimama is right about the ceiling. It is the standard here in the South. It was actually an upgrade. In the kitchen redo I had the popcorn scraped and this put on. Anything to be rid of the popcorn!

Anyone know the diff between bone and cream when it comes to color names? Is one a shade typical with certain undertones(gray vs yellow)?

Ya know, it's amazing what folks here know.
I kept reading by some posters, "The eyeballs need a place to rest" (Paraphrasing). They were talking about both busy granite and busy backsplash.

I kinda just thought "Umhhmm oh sure" I just kind of "sluffed it off."

Looking at your kitchen, I know Exactly what these ladies were talking about, My eyes keep going back to that green color "Old Dog learned another new trick"

Anyway good luck with your decision, if you must have a backsplash, I vote for the green tile, like the other poster here, as big a tile as you can find, with the least amount of grout possible!

Frosted natural glass tile is beautiful. You could find some close to your lovely wall color just to add another layer of texture.

Glass! Thats it! I wasn't diggin' on any of your posted tiles, and I couldn't figure out why. What do you think of glass? I'm not specifically talking about frosted, although that might be nice.

Most of the glass tile I see is very busy. It's also seemingly very modern-style - which seems contrary to the feeling in my kitchen. Isn't my kitchen more traditional?
