Will this turquoise accent scheme work in kitchen?

I'm considering using my old Watt bowls as accent in my new kitchen and getting a colored range (RAL 5018). I have a few of these.

My question is: will it work? The turquoise stripe on the bowl is so thin by comparison to the mauve one, and the range and stripe will undoubtedly not be identical in color. I'd like to bring a turquoise accent into the adjacent DR, too.

Would I need to add another turqouise thing to make it work? I really wanted to keep the room simple, so if adding more is necessary I'd probably just forgo the turquoise range.

The cabs are "white chocolate" a shade or two darker/tanner than the trim color of the rest of the house. The floors are fir/toward yellow and the kitchen window trim is natural. (We stripped it. I wanted the kitchen to be a little less painted/more rustic/more scrubbed looking.) The counters will be dark soapstone and stainless. The rest of the downstairs walls are shades of yellow.

The kitchen walls are currently an invisible gray. They will never be a strong or dark color.

I don't think the turquoise is going to relate to the stripe in the bowl at all, but I think it could still work. Do you have any Jadeite pieces? They are absolutely gorgeous mixed with the turquoise you're thinking of using. Love where you're going with this. I think it will be stunning.

Tina, we won’t have window treatments in the kitchen and probably not a rug either. I have this random pot that I keep on the stove top just because I like the color, which is my inspiration for the idea of a dark turquoise or teal accent. The more I think and “listen” to the discussion above, I am thinking the accents will be there but really limited. A few colorful dishes in the glass cabinet, dish towels, oh, and art. Funny enough, we have a paintings on the kitchen wall now that incorporate these colors and I hadn’t even realized it. They all won‘t stay but at least one will.

That is definitely colorful, but I'm not sure what you're asking for...? Budget? What are of the States do you live in? Layout of your kitchen? Without those questions answered, I am leaning towards keeping your cabinets very neutral and accenting with an aqua backsplash. And then, like you said, bring in colorful hand towels, canisters, utensil holders and decorative items. I would NOT use those colors mentioned on my cabinets. If you don't like white cabinets, you could do gray, a pretty stain, off white. I know you said your dogs get things dirty, but unless they're putting their paws on your cabinets, I don't see how they would get cabinets any dirtier from everyday use.

Your blue island will look like four different colors of blue depending on the light in the room. Any color you use will look like four different colors because of the variations in the light around the room. My husband was disappointed the blue was not darker until he walked around the island and noticed that the north side was darker. Same paint, just the way life is. That’s why everyone recommends you paint a large poster board with the color you want and look at it on different walls (or in this case on different sides of the island). Look at a corner of your room and really see how the same color paint on the left side is different than on the right and, if the ceiling is the same color, the ceiling will look like a third shade! Take two of those panels and hold them at a 90 degree angle and you’ll see!

My struggle is when I see pictures of the more muted colors, I think they are beautiful, truly....BUT...when I am making my choices, my heart always goes for COLOR, lots of it. haha" I feel like you already have your answer, from your own keyboard. My personal philosophy is to try to avoid choosing things you love that are super on-trend (that is infatuation- not love), and try to avoid choosing things that feel 'meh' to you now, because you are worried about what you may or may not like 10 years from now. Be brave. In 5 years, you can look at that wall of turquoise and have a constant reminder that you had the courage to live boldly follow your heart. (disclaimer- this advice comes from a person who drove to a car dealer in another state because they were the only ones within 400 miles who had the car I wanted in mint green. And every day that mint green car makes me smile.)

I'd you want to match the bowl, it looks more 1950s baby blue than turquoise. it'd be very hard to find that shade.

I'm incorporating turquoise accents into my kitchen, so am undeniably biased, and love the idea of a turquoise range! I agree that the line on your bowl is more baby blue than turquoise. Perhaps Le Creuset's "caribbean" colour is more what you're after? Also, have you see the blog House of Turquoise? It has pages and pages of turquoise kitchens, with varying amounts of the colour. I highly recommend it.

Yes, it will work, and I found another Watt lover! I began with one bowl when I was 20 years old, and not only did I collect more bowls, I decorated my whole house with the same color scheme.

Don't worry about getting a perfect match for the turquoise unless you set the colors side by side. It won't be noticeable at all. I basically have three shades of red in my kitchen (white cabs) and it looks fine.

Here's some of my collection. Ignore the plates on the counter, they're gone.

Do you think I would need more turq besides the bowls and the range? What's the minimum "more" I could get away with and still have it look good - maybe just a little turq trim on a towel? Maybe I could get some jadeite-ish accent tiles for the backsplash, or perhaps even embed a few broken shards -- I like that kind of thing.

I believe the picture of the bowl may mislead regarding the shade. All my stuff is in storage so I can't do a direct compare, but I 'm going to take the RAL deck to an antique mall tomorrow in hopes of finding a live bowl. I think the shades are actually pretty close. My bigger concern was that the turq stripe is so skinny compared to the mauve, but none of you mentioned that....

Oakley, I didn't know you were a Watt collecter. I really love your display. I rarely see the poinsetta pieces.
