You might give the Fusion one last shot - see my post on your other thread. :)

Would you do the bs in that small of a tile? If so, I think that will be really busy. Most people don't end up liking really small mosaic bs. It makes them dizzy. There are lots of thread on that topic - investigate. (I do want to mention though pipdog has a BEAUTIFUL small tile mosaic bs but it looked like mother of pearl and very neutral so it doesn't come off as too busy. Red tile will be a lot busier.)
I love glass tiles though and think larger red ones could be stunning.

This might sound silly but I'd drape a black cloth or big black poster board over the counter tops and see if you like how the black looks and feels. I think it will make the whole kitchen feel a lot darker.

All that to say, I wouldn't give up on Fusion quite yet. You love it. You've waited this long, what's a little longer for something that is going to make your heart sing? I think you'd be settling if you didn't get it and you'd probably really regret it. Well, that is unless you found a backsplash tile that makes you as happy as Fusion did. If you can do that though, and you'll know, then bye-bye Fusion.

NSB-that is a great idea about the covering the counters. I have a large black tablecloth I could use. I actually thought about putting tinfoil on the BS to see if we'll like stainless!
My husband now tells me he thought the mosaic was a lot larger. I think we could probably get square and rectangle stainless that is bigger and do the same pattern on a larger scale so it isn't so busy. Then he said "Maybe the stainless will be too dark and we'll need a glass that is lighter." I swear my head is going to explode.
I'm going to give the Fusion another week to arrive and go see it if it comes in in that timeframe. If it is the light, colorful one, I'll get it. If it isn't, I'm not going to spend the premium for it when I KNOW I can find some really cool, unique backsplash. I'm also considering royal blues to pull from either Volga Blue or Emerald pearl granite that I think could be really stunning.
The bonus to the black granite is we can afford to also do our fireplace which is currently white painted brick as well.

This looks very similar to your colors, and with a SS pattern. You could mix in a few colored tiles if you wanted to, but I think the SS like this looks really nice.

Or a tin look tile, the ones in the pic are a darker finish than most pics but the colors matched yours better.. They come in many finishes, patterns, and pattern sizes/complexities. This site even has colored metalics! Usually I see just the normal metal finishes.

Are the cabs staying? If so, I agree with Belle. Black granite will make your kitchen pretty dark. It's a fine look, if that's what you're going for. Amd, I agree that the small tiles are very busy. The first pic williamsem posted with the diamond ss bs is intriguing.

Make sure you're really, really ok with choosing something else if you don't want to wait for fusion. It sounded to me like you had your heart set on it. Don't compromise unless you must.

I have my heart set on it IF it is the light version Fusion. I'm just not convinced it will be what I'm wanting.
I'm going to cover the counters tomorrow with black and see what we think. Our bar counter is a very very dark brown and we love it, but it isn't as large of a space.
I actually think a whole bs of stainless will be too dark with the black. I took this pic with the emerald pearl and a stainless/glass mix and really like it.

Both the granite and the BS (especially the BS) look too contemporary for the door style imo. It's too much bling for your cab style and color. I think the contrast will really put the focus on the older cabs and make them look very dated. I would go with a more traditional look.

Since you seem to like contemporary styles, I'm not sure I'd even go to the expense of granite at this time. Maybe compromise now and save up for what you really want sometime in the future.

mayflowers-Not getting new counters is NOT an option. #1-I already have money down. #2-I'll shoot myself if I have to live with those freakin' tile counters any longer than I absolutely have to. The deal was I spruce up the cabinets by staining them darker and then I got new counters, b/s etc. I'm surprised you were the first to note the door style. The doors can be replaced with a more contemporary look in a few years. I cannot cook another 5 years on those *&^%@ counters!LOL My husband has lived in this home for almost 30 years. We don't plan on moving in the next 10 years, odds are we won't for another 20+(we are only in our mid-30s), so we are doing what WE like:-) Sticking to "traditional" style when that is what we DESPISE about this house isn't going to happen. Every upgrade we do is to make the home MORE contemporary, not stick with the current style. Thank you, however, for pointing out a design element that others had missed. Had I not known my whole background-working toward a more contemporary house, I'd have though the same of my choices;-)

OK-on another note, after talking to DH, WAY too many hours looking for tiles, I've decided on the following:
Black countertop-I'll have to look at engineered quartz and more black granites. We won't be doing blue, so Emerald pearl is out. I want something with a bit of silver sparkle in it.
Backsplash-The mosaic PATTERN at the top-rectangle "square" rectangle--will be done with 2.5x6 and 2.5x3 I found on the net. I mocked up 4x8 and 4x4, 3x3 and 3x6, 2x2 and 2x4 and needed something in between the 2x2 and 2x3. So, won't be totally square for the smaller pieces, but oh well. Instead of using plain glass as in the picture, I'll have custom glass made, hopefully similar to this:
