Question re: Click wood floors

Hi,

Does click flooring always go down and feel a little spongy?

My deceased father-in-law put in a floor in his kitchen/breakfast area (flooring is over concrete). It always felt fake; spongy and just didn't sound real although it was a wooden veneer floor. Then he had a leak in his kitchen; replaced the floor and the floor then sounded solid, like a real floor. I can't ask him what he did now, but I think he may have gone from click to glued together engineered wood.

Does anyone have a way to make click flooring sound solid? I tried a carton of 2 different click floors that both sound the same, not like regular wood floor.

This test of 2 difeerent click flooring was mostly to test the appearance and locking and was done over old parquet which will be removed. I did not have the foam underlayment under it for these tests.

I appreciate your help.

Bob
