Who loves (or hates!) their pull out / pull down faucet?? Part 2

hello again everyone! in april many of you were kind enough to give me your thoughts on your pull out or pull down faucets. some of you had just installed your faucets...some were still in boxes! so now that it's been a few months and decision day is upon me (yikes!), will you tell me if you feel the same way? i am looking for ease of operation and a secure fit when the sprayer goes back in it's place. no loose hangers! i think i will get blanco 510 882 double sinks this time (no more single sink for me!!)so i don't know if that plays a part? the sinks are 10" and 7" deep.

once again guide me and i will be forever grateful!

I didn't post last time around, but I have a delta saxony (in stainless with the soap dispenser). I think my sinks are about the same as yours(10 and 7.... maybe its 9 and 7). Anyway, I couldnt decide the faucet for a long time, and then finally went with the saxony because I kept going back to the looks which I liked. I really like it now that I have had it installed for almost 2 months.It is a pull out, and it isnt too high or massive looking, but is very attractive. It is very easy to use, and the pull out part works very easily- and you do gently guide it back and it goes back easily and smoothly. What else can I say but I like it?!!

Love my Brizo Floriano. BUT, one thing I didn't think of but would not change my mind anyway, is that there does tend to be more finger prints because you are always handling the spray head. The floriano is a little too easily swung from one side to another, and I have hit it a couple of times and sent it flying to pour water on my countertop. Do leave it running full force when not using it in case you hit it. Love having a built in soap dispenser with neverMT but the Floriano one is a little too loose in its base and doesn't pump as much soap as I would like in one pump.

VERY easy to use and handle, single hole makes it easy to clean around, spray head is metal on the outside not plastic, but light weight, and the spray button is hard plastic rather than rubber and lets you keep the nozzle on spray without holding it the entire time.

Got a great deal on it from faucetdepot.com, less than 300.00 for the full size chrome faucet WITH the soap dispenser.

Overall, I like it very much.

I still love this one, weird as it is (the spray hose lies atop the gooseneck, and the neck itself has a sort of channel (for lack of a better word) on or in which the hose rests and blends in like a chameleon. When you want to use the hose you just pull it down from the nozzle clip (again, for lack of the proper word) and you're free to roam around the sink with it. When you're done, you just place it back over the neck and clip snap it back into place at the nozzle area (the nozzle is part of the hose so hose and faucet are one in the same). Sounds crazy but I've used the floor model of the bridge style deck-mounted 10" one and it was FUN to use and looked and felt very high-quality. It's solid stainless steel and made of replaceable parts. I.e. if you got tired of the hose version you could just replace the gooseneck with a standard gooseneck. The polished stainless steel looks like a cross between polished chrome and polished nickel because it's warmer than chrome (not so blue) but not as yellow as nickel. Not sure I'll get it though cause I want a wall-mounted one and I think the wall-mounted sizes are either too big or too small for my space. :( We'll see... See below for link to the 10" (19" high in total) version of the single lever style. They also have the shorter 8" version (14 3/4" high) and they also have the traditional deck-mounted bridge style in a couple of sizes as well as the wall ones and mono blocks (click on Steam Valve Originals once in there to see everything). Love, love, love my Ikea pulldown. No problems with retraction at all. If you search this forum (using the bottom search box) you'll see this debate comes up in here all the time, with your reason being one of hte primary cited. HOWEVER (and this is important), that's almost always people who haven't used one and only seen them in showrooms where the counterweights haven't been installed! A pulldown has a chunky weight attached to the hose under the sink, and that's what keeps it in place - totally adjustable, too. Also, there are a few pulldowns with "docking" devices - ie the twistlock Delta Leland and Victorian, and the magnetic Delta Allora. I'm a total convert to pulldowns after years of a sidesprayer. Even though it took a LOT of persuasion to get me to try one, I can't imagine having anything else now - I LOVE it. I have an Ikea Elverdam, btw - simple, but efficient and it didn't break the bank. FWIW.

I like a pulldown. Sidespray is too fiddly and pullouts aren't as massive, meaning I don't get the spout length my shortness requires. :) I have a Kohler Simplice right now as a temporary faucet. It's okay but the spray button doesn't work right. I shoulda exchanged it but I was lazy--Kohler makes a good faucet and I just got a dud. Previously I had a huuuuge Hansgrohe Allegro Pro, selected purely by size (I was having back issues with the faucet spout length in my unremodeled kitchen). It looked like an alien space craft from the original War of the Worlds movie. Great faucet BUT! Like others, I found that the HG spray button wasn't a simple on/off mechanism. You could turn it on, you could turn it off, but if you turned off the water, it would revert to stream. Not a big deal unless you are a Tapmaster user trying to conserve water while washing veggies with the sprayer. I'll probably get another one when I remodel anyway. :) So whatever you get, make sure the spray/stream mechanism works the way you want. What we think is an obvious function may not have occurred to the faucet designers. (The Simplice--if the button acts like it should--is the way it should be. On or off, until you change it.)

I prefer a pull-out because I have short arms, and don't like having to reach the few extra inches towards the back of the sink to rinse things under a pull-down. I know it's only a matter of a 2 or 3 inches of difference in reach, but standing at the sink with a pull-down which is toward the back of the sink is hard for me. I prefer that a pull-out has a reach that is closer to me. I have never found using the spray in a pull-out to be awkward. This topic is difficult with no "correct" answer - so much depends on the design of the individual faucet, regardless whether it's a pull-out or pull-down. When shopping for a faucet, it is helpful to see them on display, so that you can feel how they feel in your hand. It's like shopping for jeans - everyone fits differently. If it is not possible to see them in a showroom, create a copy of the faucet from aluminum foil rolled up into the dimensions of the faucet (which are found on the manufacturers' websites), and see if you can picture how they would look and feel that way.

I have a Price Pfister T529-YPU which I think is being discontinued (but there are others very similar by both PP and other mfgs) and I really like it. Two of the nicer features are an adjustable volume control on the spray head and the ability to "angle" the spray head by pulling it slightly of the neck of the faucet and swiveling it. Faucets from Price Pfister are certainly not a trendy choice, but I am quite pleased with this one and with it's pricing I find it to be a good value.

I have a Rohl pull down faucet. prior to renovating I had the Grohe Ladylux pull out faucet. I prefer the pull down. I actually LOVE it. I find the pull down easier than the pull out and getting used to it has been a breeze. the precision with which I can rinse the sink out along with whatever food I am working with makes me feel a little bit like a surgeon! :-)

I am loving my Kohler Simplice too. It's just so nice and graceful looking...plus it functions great!

I love the pulldown. It's very sturdy!
