Crackle Tile & Grey Grout - will get in the crackle?

I am still working on a backsplash - the people at the tile store had two conflicting views. I like the look of a white subway tile with a gray grout -- one person at the store said the grey would get in the crackle - the other one disagreed. So, two questions:

Will the grey grout get into the crackle?

Am I merging two looks - does the grey grout go better with a plain white subway tile?

You seal the tile after it is installed but before it is grouted to prevent the grout from getting in the crackle.

Just out of curiousity, what tile did you go with? I've been forever on the lookout for a crackle tile.

We are looking at the walker zanger gramercy line crackle tile -- we'd do the 2x6 size. It is very nice - not too much crackle, not too little :)

I just bought some Levitron light almond outlets and light switches with screw less covers. I am very happy with how streamlined and modern they look. At first glance I thought they were white. My electrician told me about them, and said most people use them nowadays for off-white or cream subway backslashes. Hopefully this will help others in their decision. I also looked into the custom, online store , Columbia Jorge stoneworks since a few gw'ers used them. I was worried how the edges of the covers would looked chipped, since I have the crackle finish. They match the mondorla tiles soooo much better than the bright white. I did not know there was a new color, light almond vs the regular almond! I hope this helps others stuck on which covers to get.

Thanks everyone! I will accept that they will remain the way they are - still pretty but no sparkle and they won't crackle more. I did look at the Encore Bravo line but none of the colors would work. We were looking at one of the other Encore tiles- but it is much more $ than the Grazia and not super different (except for the sparkle). Crackle tile must be sealed before grouting or the grout gets in the crackle glaze and doesn’t come out.

Sue-- Try Distinctive Tile in York. I think you'll find what you're looking for. Tell em I sent you. (I just did some work for them a few weeks ago, and about to do some work for their Yarmouth store)

I just installed crackle subway tile on our backsplash and I didn't seal it prior to grouting, no problem, but that's not to say it can't happen. Here's a link to the tiles we used. I'm not sure who was offering the discount, the store where I bought them or the link below, but I got them for 1/3 of the regular price.

Grouting unsealed crackle glaze tile is like playing russian roulette. You never know if you're going to be the one who gets the live chamber.
