Can you share you 'Shaker' cabinet doors with me?

Dear all,

My designer brought over a door sample. It's fine, it's what I asked for - Shaker-esque. But as we all know, the devil is in the details. I'd like to see the variants of "Shaker" door styles people have used to see if i like the one I was shown best.

Here is the cabinet we have ordered. It is Omega and the door is Metro. I tried to get a decent pic so you can see the detail around the middle. There is a slight "molding" that sticks out so it is a variation of a shaker door.

Our perimeter cabinets are Plain & Fancy "Quaker" inset in natural cherry with a low sheen. The island is the same style in White Antique Distressed on cherry.

I have shaker style with the plywood veneer panel. If I could have afforded it, I would have chosen the solid wood with the raised panel inside. While I am not devastated about my veneer panels (cherry cabinets), they would have been nicer if only ... but I had to keep a rein on my expenses, and this was a choice I made. I have shaker style maple veneer in a bathroom and I don't think the maple veneer is as dramatically different from the real wood as is the cherry. You might find the same is true for beech.

I obsessed about this for awhile, even though I don't have any slab drawer fronts. I mounted almost all the drawer handles (bar pulls) centered both horizontally and vertically on the drawer front, in the recessed panel. But door pulls use the same bar pulls running vertically and attached to the stile (I think that is the right term). So they aren't in the same plane as the drawer pulls. It conceptually bothers me that they are different, but it doesn't bother me visually. In any case I couldn't find anything I liked better. I hope to shoot some final pictures tonite and post them. The last things were done today.

Hi Caffeinequeen! I found a thread about this...not a lot of feedback on it, but the ones that did answer agreed that it is not worth it to glaze a shaker style cabinet. Now...with the small bead your cabinet maker mentioned...maybe it would? One of the posters on the thread said that glazing is really not what shaker cabinets are about...which kind of makes sense. Anyway, read the thread...and hopefully we will get a few responses on this thread too. I would also LOVE to see some pics. But I have been googling and googling looking for "glazed white shaker cabinets" and having no luck, so that is telling me something. Here is a link that might be useful: thread

Two doors appear to be the same width as the oven, which I would estimate to be 30" wide.

We have a piece of molding running around the recessed portion. We put in cabinets in our bathroom similar in style to what you show in the early 90's and I found that the flat ledge created at the bottom of the recessed panel is a great place for dust and other stuff passing by to collect.

I'm happier with the cabinets in our kitchen (but I don't think I'd do beaded inset again since there are a lot of crevices for stuff to collect in.) We've had them in for 5 years. Like nhbaskets, we have slab fronts on the shallower drawers and the recessed panels on the higher drawers.
