Cambria quartz countertop?
Comments (36)oldman3957: The success of a repair depends mostly on your particulate size and movement, if any. Post a picture please. I've gotten paid for estone hot pot repairs, so the customers must have been happy. I respectfully disagree with oldryder; there is nothing wrong with the engineered stone. The manufacturers of solid surface, plastic laminate, estone, and yes, granite, ALL require the use of trivets to prevent heat damage. Stoners always hate it when I say this, but this trivet requirement makes them equal when it comes to heat. I've posted pictures of heat-ringed and cracked granite here previously and just got another call last week. He texted me this pic and I told him his granite was ruined: I got this estone: To look like this for less than $500.00:...See MoreCaesarstone White Ash vs. Cambria New Quay Countertops?
Comments (14)Thank you all for the ideas. They are decidedly different choices, the White Ash being more modern for sure. I'm aiming to have the kitchen appeal to a broad audience in case we want to sell the house, but want it to be beautiful until such time! If the skeleton of the house didn't scream Traditional, we would be happy to go Mod. As for waiting, location may well be an important factor. Odd experience: last week I visited a granite/quartz yard nearby, where the main guy showed me 4 orders on paper for New Quay that he expected soon (after 2-month wait). So I visited again just a few days ago and all of the slabs were in.... I suggested via email to the salesman at the affiliated store that I purchase the remnants instead of buying new, as our layout lends itself to smaller pieces. Still no response, which I'm assuming means "not interested." If that's the case, I wonder why? I'd think he'd be happy to be paid twice for each slab. And it would be great for me since I know the material is in! So really it's simply frustration that is making me look again at the Caesarstone (plus, I'd like to be DONE already).... wish I could find more photos of others' kitchens with White Ash but it seems not to be too popular. Anyway, I enjoy reading about people's varied experiences and helpful thoughts on the topic of kitchen reno's. Much appreciated!...See MoreStaining of White Quartz/Caesarstone/Cambria, Quartzite Countertops
Comments (4)Thank you. I will consider the under cabinets and taj mahal quartz. The thought was I could re-design the interior of cabinets by inserting customize storage needs DIY; the shells are fine; not luxury but they are capable of holding things, though space is admittedly lost in two corners. They may appear they are ready to collapse but they are hung rock steady-- a couple doors could be made straight. The kitchen floor will be leveled in next 4 weeks so that could address some crookedness in bottom cabinets-- the floor drops 2 inches-- in a 12 ft. run from stove to dishwasher corner but the countertop isn't crooked... level within 1/10 inch on the whole "L" shape. I have lots of chunks of $10K going out in other parts of the house so cabinets ranked low.. whereas a sink that I found functional with a non-spliced countertop and backsplash, safe and plentiful electrical outlets --those items ranked high--things one needs to really cook. I guess we all have our value system based on how we live....See MoreCambria vs. MSI Quartz
Comments (30)We are so so close to finalizing the cambria sutherland. Our kitchen set up is soft cream cabinets all around and a hale navy island. we liked the gray tones of the sutherland but looking at the actual stone today, got a bit concerned if it will be too blue? we want a timeless countertop that we dont get tired of looking at. The sutherland looks great but would love actual feedback from anyone if it is more gray with slight blue tone or does it bring out more blue when paired with a blue island? any input will be super super helpful....See MoreLaurie
