Looking for granite suggestions - similar to New Venetian Gold

We are trying to choose granite for our countertops and spent a long time at a fabricator looking for the "right" slab. The stone we like the most, Crema Mar, is about six inches too short for where we need it (need 118" - don't want a seam.) Can anyone recommend another stone to consider?

We like New Venetian Gold and Giallo Ornamentale, but we're looking for something with a little more movement. The Crema Mar is lovely, but not big enough. We also saw something called "Phoenix," but I haven't been able to find photos of that anywhere. Likewise, I think the name Crema Mar is something else -- I can't find examples of that anywhere on line.

Our cabinets are Decora, in the chantille finish. Our island is cherry with the brandywine finish.

I am using New Ornamentale which is a lot like the New Venetian Gold. I'm not sure if it's the same as Giallo Ornamentale or not (it seems so many places put their own name on the slabs). It does have some movement, which is why I ended up selecting it over the New Venetian Gold. I will be seeing the templating of my slab this week and will take pictures to share. I don't have any pics of the slab at this time. My cabinets are all cherry. The perimeters are in a toffee (medium brown) stain, and the island is in an espresso (dark brown) stain. The granite was beautiful with both.

Here's a picture of my New Ornamental granite slab - you can see that there is some movement. I'm also including a picture of my floor and cabinets so that you can see what it will be placed on (granite will be installed next week). It's absolutely beautiful with the cherry - both the coffee stain and the lighter toffee stain.

Yes, many are very close. You need to see them in person. And depending on the run, they can go darker or lighter, have moe gold etc.

Your cabinets look really nice. I have had a new appreciation for oak. Assuming they were originally stained and good quality you might want to consider having them stripped and refinished either with a stain you prefer or natural (different natural finishes may not 'orange' as much. Then find a counter that compliments the warm tone of the oak. Definitely bring a sample of whatever cabinet finish you are considering (or keeping the same) to look at the counters at the fabricator. You will be surprised how subtle some of the differences can be. Good luck.

I have New Venetian Gold and haven't had any problems with it at all. It has held up beautifully, with no sign of irregularities. Sounds like you may have gotten a bad slab, or one that wasn't finished correctly. They should replace it for you.

if it's on your walls, then for sure I wouldn't use it on the cabinets. You need some sort of break/contrast! what you do to bring in warmth and color is accessories. wood cutting boards, pendants, greenery, metal hardware, rugs, window coverings, shelving, glass in the upper cabs w/colorful dishes,,,,whatever! you certainly don't have to do the white subway tile. do the white cabinets and pick a charcoal tile. I can help you w/that when the cabs are done. that's easy. Right now your lighting is so yellow, its difficult to pick something. see if you can stick in a few more cans in the center. as a suggestion, I'd remove the valance and window treatment, and try something like this (in diff colors of course) and if you like the farmhouse white sink, try the drop in model. And I hope you're addressing the lack of storage. I get it. If possible, have some large drawers put in, somewhere, in order to store those items on the countertop. I had a drawer put into my island and keep everything in them. another suggestion, have a simple hood vent made (trim it wood if you like). the current one, along w/the valance and curtains over the sink, really date the space. this is how I did mine: whitetail cabs against a whiter wall. since you've already painted the walls, do something diff on cabs. can you imagine what this would look like if the cabs/walls/doors were all the same??! maybe look at some of these others that will compliment Whitetail. maybe Chatroom or Antler Velvet ?? I'd also do handles, not knobs, on the uppers. I think the gold would be pretty w/the granite.

St. Cecilia is similar to New Venetian Gold. You can google it as it is one of the most popular granites around.

Mine is similar but with more blues and lots and lots of movement. Yellow River. That said, there are lots of variations to Yellow River. Some have lots of movement and some don't. Depends on the slabs.

White lines on the photo is where we were thinking of cutting for the backsplash.

Another really popular stone is Madura Gold.
St.Cecelia is an old stand by that will never go
out of style (in my opinion) and it is tantamount
to being the "Resale Beige" of Granite colors, so
if you are going to sell your home in the near
future - think about colors that sell well - like
NVG or St. Cecelia .... Otherwise,

choose a stone that YOU like and that fits YOUR design
criteria and taste.

There's lot's of colors to choose from and this phase
of the project should be a "fun" time for you...
