i soooooooooo jealous!!! to see a christopher peacock kitchen in person....only in my dreams!

My daughter and I were there on Saturday and watched them setting up the kitchen. What I could see was beautiful!

I was surprised it was only one display. I guess I had expected more. The countertop shown was Caesarstone Misty Cararra. It looked nice with the walnut cabinets but I didn't care for it on the white ones. Too grayish. The kitchen was a mix of the white and walnut. It was nice, but nothing really that special.

I just saw the promo section on this in the new issue of House Beautiful that came in yesterday's mail. Do they let you take photos? Would love to see/hear feedback from any of you who are able to go see it.

I'm heading back there today to try to take a few photos to post. One thing I noticed that was that they have lined the glass door uppers with walnut to compliment the walnut islands and built ins. Interesting touch.

Finally got around to posting my pictures of this set up in Rockefeller Center. Loved the walnut and the detail of lining the interior of all the cabinets in walnut. The finish on the white cabinets didn't seem right, looked like a regular wall paint job - probably because it was a temporary setup? The faucet is an electronic touch model - I think I like the tapmaster better though. Counters were ceaserstone. I liked it better than expected, but reads a bit grey next to the white cabs.

What do you guys think?

Hmmm, I am liking the walnut cabs (gorgeous wood but then I love walnut wood) and I like the square cut out for the sink. I would love to have a freestanding fridge and freezer, but I am not liking much else about it. I am really not fond of the pulls and knobs, especially the pulls. They seem too big and the knobs seem too small. Maybe I am just too much in love with my new kitchen. I sure have seen prettier ones here on GW. I think the folks here could give Mr. Peacock a run for his money (and that translates into a LOT of money if it is a Peacock kitchen). Just not overly impressed. Maybe it is better in person or something.

MXGMom3: Thanks for posting these photos- very interesting. The knobs especially seem small to me compared to the big pulls but maybe in person they are fine ---and are they sterling silver as I've read most Peacock kitchens use? . I normally love a Peacock kitchen , but as mustbnuts points out, I agree that we have forum members with kitchens that outshine this particular one . Still it would be fun to see this in person and how cool that they've set it up in Rockefeller Ctr so everyone else can become TKO.

The white plug on the side of the island is disappointing for such a high end kitchen. A strip of plug molding under the lip I think is a better solution. The wicker baskets are cute and probably functional for some. In my kitchen they would be covered with dog and cat hair! (It's EVERYWHERE right now!) Double frig/freezer- I would go crazy because DH and DSs would never keep the milk in the same refrigerator!

thanks for posting, i've been waiting for these! i also liked the walnut on the perimeter and am planning white cabs with a stained island and breakfast area wall which will also house the fridge and freezer. my floors will be walnut but i don't know why i never thought of using it for the island and breakfast area? i was thinking cherry...

i would have preferred if the walnut had a bit more sheen to it. i have decided not to use any muntins in my glass and my decision was reinforced after seeing these ...but overall it was a bit of a letdown for me.

i guess i'm spoiled. i've seen better right here!

Thank you for taking the trouble to post those photos! I wonder what the cooktop is? A description I read elsewhere said it was a JennAir modular gas cooktop, but that looks like a smoothtop to me ...

Nice..but nothing special. I have seen many a kitchen on this forum that puts the HB one to shame! :-)

I agree with everyone that the kitchen wasn't as impressive as I certainly expected it to be given the peacock kitchens we usually see posted. I think it may be the commercialization of the thing and the fact that it was a temporary setup.

rosalita - I think the handles were stainless not sterling. I agree with others that the proportions seemed strange. And, I didn't much like the stainless front doors they showed on one set of drawers - not sure they showed up in the pictures.

Did anyone notice the wierd placement of the knobs on the cupboard doors? They are in the middle rather than in the corners. That and their small size, I think contributes to it looking strange. I am not used to seeing knobs there.

Obviously BHG didn't want to spend millions on the kitchen, so Chris toned it down. Still say we see lots better here for many, many dollars less.
