Hi, Jessie - The measurements for the LNT stools are: Seat - 9 x 17 1/2; Legs (widest part) - 14 1/2 x 17. If these are too big for you, there are similar ones at Ballard that are smaller and more squarish. I have linked those below. Well, thanks for asking about my RH Brightwood pendants. They are hung and look great, but they still don't have shades. You remember that I had gotten enclosed bell shades from Schoolhouse Electric in the 2.25 fitter size? (I wanted the enclosed shades because I was worried about the glare from exposed bulbs, since I was hanging them high above the table. RH doesn't have enclosed shades that small.) Trying to be environmentally conscious, I ordered the fixtures with the GU24 socket and 24W bulb, but did not think it through or do my research. As it turns out, I have yet to find a GU24 bulb that fits into the shade. (In fact, you have to go down to an 18W to even get a shade that will fit into a 2.25 GU24 socket, never mind the shade. RH is changing their site to not allow you to select GU24 in 2.25 fitter size with a 24W bulb.) I understand there are 13W and 9W bulbs out there, but I hate to order them without knowing the dimensions because they have mercury in them and are difficult to dispose of if they don't work, and with shipping returning them is a hassle and expensive. And these bulbs are so new that I am not finding them IRL. Plus, I am now also reading that the bulbs may not be safe with an enclosed shade! Anyway, I will keep you posted... I would be working that label maker. I can see all sorts of reasons why strange switches are in places which seem strange to you. I have often wished I had a switch for the front door light in my bedroom and a switch for the backyard flood some where upstairs as well. Clear label...stuck on....who cares? And it can be un stuck easily. BTW mine are not labeled, you have to live here for a while to know that the bottom half of the wall plug by the door is controlled b y the 3rd switch on the wall and that unless lamp on the counter is on you can't plug the vacuum into that plug. I have also put a piece of magic Scotch tape over switches that should not be messed with when trying to turn on the lamp.Can hardly notice.....

I talked to my GC today (he chastized me for not calling him on Saturday, as he did not want me freaked out all weekend long - how sweet!) and he tried to reassure me. He said these guys are great and that he has never had a problem with quality of their work. The only thing that has happened is that once they called the morning of install to say, "Oops, we dropped and broke the slab while loading it onto the truck," and they worked double time to get another one fabricated so as not to delay the job too much. He said he was going to be in the area where the fabricator's "showroom" is located and that he was going to stop by and check things out, but that they are in the process of renovating the space (thank goodness, because it was a wreck!). He said they have state of the art equipment and at times average about 60 kitchens a week. This is no small, fly-by-night fabricator. I'm still worried that I won't be happy, but now at least he knows that I am concerned. Noone can claim I wasn't upfront about my issues. As for the slabs, I did approve them, but they have not been cut (just picked up). I'm not sure what can be done at this point, but I am hoping to figure it out BEFORE they take a saw to the granite! :) I hope this makes sense. I have a cold and even though I reread it, I feel that cotton-headed feeling you get and I find myself rereading 3 times and am still not sure my sentences are complete! Anyway, I'll keep you posted.

Our sink switch is right next to our disposal switch, just left of the sink. It has been that way for 18 months and has not been a problem. In the old kitchen it was very similar and was never a problem in the 4+ years I had it. The biggest factor for me, I think, was putting a dimmable switch on the main kitchen lighting. If it is late at night and I need to do some dishes, I turn on the main lights, dimmed to a very low setting, walk to the sink and turn on the sink light. When I'm done I turn off the sink light and them turn off the dimmable main lighting as I leave. Dimmable switches cost less than 30 dollars and are well worth the investment. I have switched out regular switches for dimmable ones in almost every room in my house. I found in my old house that they also came in handy when guests were staying who weren't familiar with our house. We could leave the living room light on at a low level (more like a night light) and they could easily find their way around without trouble. If I were ever to buy or remodel a house again, every room would have a dimmable switch.
