Problems with the Kohler Vinnata faucet vs. Grohe Bridgeford?

I am considering purchasing the Kohler Vinnata kitchen faucet. I noticed on the showroom floor that the pull-down spray hose was hanging down a bit (rather than fitting tightly to the faucet). The salesperson said that she wouldn't recommend the Vinnata pull-down faucet and instead prefers the Grohe Bridgeford pull-down. (The salesperson at another store prefers the Vinnata and says he hasn't heard of any problems with the Vinnata). I have also heard that the larger Vinnata (which comes in two sizes) can be overpowering due to its massive size.

Any advice would be helpful.

Nope, no problems w/my Vinnata...and I love it!

Do NOT use a showroom to determine how well a faucet works - any faucet!

Showrooms do not install them for actual use...just for show. When a pull down or pull out faucet is actually installed, a weight is placed on the hose to (1) keep the hose hanging straight down under the sink and (2) give the hose a little bit of tension for better control & for ease of replacing the head. That weight is custom adjusted for you.

Has the sales person actually used any of the faucets she's selling?

Yes, the Vinnata does come in two sizes...primary (K-690) and secondary (K-691) sink faucets. Are they "overwhelming"...no more so than most other pull down faucets. Pull down faucets are almost exclusively high-arc faucets. They almost have to be since you pull the faucet head down into the sink and you don't want it too close to the bottom or edges of the sink.

If you want a low profile faucet, you might look into pull out faucets. With a pull out faucet, you pull the head straight out so they don't have to have maneuvering room beneath it.

Whatever faucet you choose, be sure it has the "reach" to reach all the way into your sink. If you have a single-bowl sink you'll probably be OK with any pull down or pull out faucet. If you have a double-bowl sink check to be sure your faucet will reach well into both bowls.

I have both a pull down (the primary/larger Vinnata) and a pull out (Fairfax). The Vinnata is installed on my main/cleanup sink; it's a double-bowl sink. The Fairfax is installed on my single-bowl prep sink.

Just put in Grohe Bridgefords and am thrilled - so far they have exceeded my expectations. Love the way they look, feel and operate. The satin nickel coordinates perfectly with my stainless undermount sinks. I was between this and the Vinnata until I saw them both side by side in a showroom. The larger Vinnata is, at least in my mind, significantly larger than the Bridgeford. Since I was putting in two, I just decided I didn't want to go quite that big. I know many people love the Vinnatas. I believe they have a handy feature where you can leave the spray on pointed in any direction. I agree that you can never judge by a showroom display.

Kohler and Grohe go head to head. It isn't fair to compare the two because both companies have their leading products. May I suggest Riobel as another helpful option! We are a high-end boutique and even though we have Grohe and Kohler's full product line, people always lean towards Riobel. The look and style of their fixtures, their high-end quality without breaking the bank, and the overall performance is incredible. Check out their products. If this is just between Kohler and Grohe then here is how it all breaks down: Each company has a full product line. Most companies have their toilet line, faucet line, shower line, kitchen line, etc...Every company has their best selling line. Kohler's best sellers are their bathroom products such as their toilets and their faucets. Grohe however, is the leading company for their kitchen faucets- not so much their bathroom line. None of this is based on opinion, it is entirely based on what sells in the industry and what the demand is. If you want the 'porsche' for shower fixtures, Hans Grohe is one of the best! I looked at the same faucets and got the Whitehaus Metrohaus pulldown that looks a lot like the Vinnata. For me, it was the slightly shorter, slightly deeper dimensions -- and it looked pretty good in a photo posted by someone here who had it already. I love it. My neighbors got the Vinnata and have splashing, but their sink is also not as deep.

Thanks, Dianelouise. We're just giving our kitchen a "refresh", but I can't the amount of decisions involved in an entire remodel! We were at Lowe's last night and came across the Delta Victorian. The height is right, and it has magentic docking, but the handle is separate. That would mean another hole in the granite. How many is too many? We will have the faucet, handle, water dispenser, soap dispenser, and air gap. Will that look weird? If we go with the Blanco Silgranit Diamond double bowl, there is just a slight curve at the top. Do we just line all these things up at the back like little soldiers? I did see another thread discussing this, but they didn't seem to have as many objects. I believe it was Natesgram who posted a pic, and it looks nice and streamlined. (Does anyone know what faucet that is?) My DH is leaning towards the Delta because we can get it right away from Lowe's (for $230-ish, not sure why the website says $335). annz that is an excellent point, really good point about the model numbers or faucetdirect etc. I buy all kinds of things from ebay, but seem to be hung up about buying things for the house we are building from ebay. But the difference in price from the plumber who is giving us 25% off and the ebay, etc. prices is huge. I will make my first purchase and let you know how great I feel once it is done. Thanks a lot.
