Need Help with Shower System set up
Comments (2)We are doing the same thing and using the Hansgrohe E series. We had to get a set-up with a plain tub faucet (no diverter), the main diverter/temp control valve and then a separate diverter above that for the switching between the showerhead and handheld. Hansgrohe didn't offer a diverter that would do all of it in one valve. No info on Kohler vs. Grohe... I'd say get what you love....See MoreProblems with the Kohler Vinnata faucet vs. Grohe Bridgeford?
Comments (3)Nope, no problems w/my Vinnata...and I love it! Do NOT use a showroom to determine how well a faucet works - any faucet! Showrooms do not install them for actual use...just for show. When a pull down or pull out faucet is actually installed, a weight is placed on the hose to (1) keep the hose hanging straight down under the sink and (2) give the hose a little bit of tension for better control & for ease of replacing the head. That weight is custom adjusted for you. Has the sales person actually used any of the faucets she's selling? Yes, the Vinnata does come in two sizes...primary (K-690) and secondary (K-691) sink faucets. Are they "overwhelming"...no more so than most other pull down faucets. Pull down faucets are almost exclusively high-arc faucets. They almost have to be since you pull the faucet head down into the sink and you don't want it too close to the bottom or edges of the sink. If you want a low profile faucet, you might look into pull out faucets. With a pull out faucet, you pull the head straight out so they don't have to have maneuvering room beneath it. Whatever faucet you choose, be sure it has the "reach" to reach all the way into your sink. If you have a single-bowl sink you'll probably be OK with any pull down or pull out faucet. If you have a double-bowl sink check to be sure your faucet will reach well into both bowls. I have both a pull down (the primary/larger Vinnata) and a pull out (Fairfax). The Vinnata is installed on my main/cleanup sink; it's a double-bowl sink. The Fairfax is installed on my single-bowl prep sink. Main sink, Kohler Vinnata, K-690 model (larger version): Prep Sink, Kohler Fairfax:...See MoreDelta Allora vs. Grohe Ladylux Plus vs. Kohler Simplice
Comments (29)Regarding the hot/cold on the delta allora, I am right handed and like my control mounted on the right because that's the hand I reach with to turn it on. It's not really hard to get used to the front to back for hot and cold, there are also teeny little blue and red indicators to remind you which is which. If I can get DH to get under the sink to unscrew the mount, I would like to position that handle just a bit forward (it can spin in any direction) so when on full hot, it isn't so close to my windowsill. That's my only complaint and it was an install issue. I have heard many people complain over splashing on all the gooseneck faucets, not just the delta but it is a really easy fix....I got used to using less pressure (bonus is it saves water) pretty quickly. It doesn't splash at all in stream, only spray and then, only when turned up. I really only use my spray for sink cleaning and I always have the hose extended and the head sweeping around the sides...no spray even on high. My old side spray used to splash if it were turned up and held up high...I think it's the nature of the beast. I have a kindred undermount stainless sink, single bowl. The bowl insides are 27.5 x 17 and I find it a good fit. When I first opened my faucet, my first impression was holy smokes, it's toooooooo huge. Not so. I love love love it. In fact, my faucet and single bowl undermount sink are my favorite things in the kitchen....See MoreKohler Thermostatic Valves and Trims VS "The Grohes"
Comments (4)It's easier to start with a sales site such as build.com or decorplanet.com which will allow you to search for products that meet your specifications (e.g., shower faucets with thermostatic valve type) across multiple brands. Spec sheets, installation instructions, and some reviews are also there. Once you've selected candidates, also look at the reviews on Amazon and Home Depot. (The Hansgrohe website is complete but not particularly user-friendly.)...See MoreStacey Collins
