High Arc Faucets - Finishes? Grohe Bridgeford?

You guys were such great help with feedback on our granite selection, I thought I'd solicit some help with our faucet selection. (We are going with New Venetian Gold granite and Blanco Silgranit double bowl in Anthracite (unless anyone knows where to find a granite composite sink with large bowl on right...)

Our sink is in the center of the kitchen island. I really love the high arc single handle faucets such as the Kohler Vinnata, however at 17 inches, it is way too tall for the space and completely overwhelms the area. Additionally, since it's on the island, people can sit "behind" the faucet and be completely blocked!

Here is my mock up of a 17 inch version using tin foil - don't laugh, I need all the visual/spatial help I can get!

I definitely like the 14-15 inch range much better. The Grohe Bridgeford is 2-3 inches shorter and seems to make all the difference. I know Grohe makes quality faucets, and are quite pricey. I really like the stainless steel or brushed nickel look. I thought I read on this site that brushed nickel is a very difficult to live with finish, as bleach, plumbers putty, certain dish soaps, etc, can ruin its finish. Is this true? It appears the Grohe Bridgeford only comes in "infinity brushed nickel". Does anyone know what kind of finish that is?

Also, I understand you have to hold down the spray button - is that bothersome?

Or does anyone have a different faucet to recommend...

I love your mock up! I am a very visual person and am driving my hubby bonkers because I need to mock up everything before I commit to it. I am going to copy your idea! Right now I am cutting cardboard circles and mounting them 19-27" from the ceiling to see what kind of light fixtures we should get! I'll be watching your thread with interest.

I vote for the 15" version. All the best!

Thanks, Dianelouise. We're just giving our kitchen a "refresh", but I can't the amount of decisions involved in an entire remodel!

We were at Lowe's last night and came across the Delta Victorian. The height is right, and it has magentic docking, but the handle is separate. That would mean another hole in the granite. How many is too many? We will have the faucet, handle, water dispenser, soap dispenser, and air gap. Will that look weird?

If we go with the Blanco Silgranit Diamond double bowl, there is just a slight curve at the top. Do we just line all these things up at the back like little soldiers? I did see another thread discussing this, but they didn't seem to have as many objects. I believe it was Natesgram who posted a pic, and it looks nice and streamlined. (Does anyone know what faucet that is?)

My DH is leaning towards the Delta because we can get it right away from Lowe's (for $230-ish, not sure why the website says $335). I'm more interested in the Grohe, but just not sure if the brushed nickel finish will be a problem.

I looked at the same faucets and got the Whitehaus Metrohaus pulldown that looks a lot like the Vinnata. For me, it was the slightly shorter, slightly deeper dimensions -- and it looked pretty good in a photo posted by someone here who had it already. I love it. My neighbors got the Vinnata and have splashing, but their sink is also not as deep.

laurie, I may be too late with my opinion but here it is. My Danze Opulence looks beautiful. I think the spray feature is very nice too. However, even though it looks enormous and the measurements all seemed like it would be big enough (with me even questioning if it was too big), It doesn't reach out far enough in my single sink! I have a center drain--the faucet, when on doesn't hit it! I have such a small area that I can rinse dishes under. I know I can use the pull out. I think the issue is that the faucet is angled straight down, not slightly out. I must say that this is the most disappointing thing about my remodel. Since I have to have the dishes/pots towards the back of the sink when rinsing, the water splashes on the counter behind the faucet... It just feels a little claustrophobic for me. Before I even knew this would happen, Grohe's Ladylux 3 became available. I was going to order it, but then I wasn't sure how its finish would look with the Danze pot filler (already installed) and soap dispenser I had already purchased. I suppose if this troubles me and I can never get over it, I will need to sell it on CL and replace it! I have heard nothing but praise about the Grohe.

Granjan This head does latch on. Waterstone did have some issues with drooling when faucet was on (a small amount of water leaked around the buttons) with this model. They are re-designing the head. The head above latches on and the replacement head will also latch on. Currently, I have a different head on mine(will have to take a picture) which is a contemporary version of Holly-Kaye's. the temporary head does not latch on. Not all of the heads drool and others were not having the issue. I will try to snag a picture. Ok- I am avoiding the model as I am blanking on the numbers but I think it is the PLP 5400.

If you want a more utilitarian look, the Grohe K7 medium is a scaled down pre-rinse-style faucet; we like ours. The Blanco Culina is cute though. My folks have and would recommend the Grohe Concetto (not sure whether that is considered a pullout or pulldown), looks similar to the Delta Trinsic. Good luck!

I bought the bridgeford nickel from faucetdirect for $441. THere is a picture on this site under one of my posts of a semi finished costa kitchen.

I will tell you, the bridgeford is pretty high and does look big. For an island, I would prefer something sleeker and smaller. But then again, I didn't do such a great job on my kitchen and am still working on it.

Considering the price and that you'll use it several times a day, it's worth going to a plumbing design center to see faucets in person. I changed my whole thinking after handling the different styles and brands. Some, and Grohe may have been one of them, have a spiral metal tube on the pulldown part that makes a grinding noise as you pull the spray head down and back. Feels like you're driving over a rutted road, too. Obviously, most folks aren't bothered by that. But that would have annoyed me to no end. Ease of docking the spray head varied between faucets, too, though unrelated to the noise from the metal coil.

I also found that some high arc faucets are less imposing than others of the same height because the necks and bases are slimmer.
