Tiling a ceiling in Carrara Marble or white subway tile?
Comments (4)I don't know if the carrara would look odd. that really would be your call. we did a slate floor and white subway tile walls with some accent strips. In the shoewr we tiled to the ceiling with the subway and did the ceiling in subway. or more correctly, we picked it out and my tile contractor did the tiling. I think it looks good that way....See MoreBathroom Remodel- White Subway and Carrara Marble
Comments (28)anne7- the double vanity is 64' wide. That was the biggest we could fit in the space we had. It gave us a bit more counter space in between sinks than a standard 60' would have. I wish it had been made with wider drawers though. I modeled it after one I found on pottery barn that had similar inset doors and hardware. You are right, there is no tub:( There just wasn't space. island- the floor tiles are Jeffrey Court iceberg marble polished (90019 They are from the Cap.9- Pietra Opus II series and are 4 x 8. The shower stall is just over 5'. I had the mirrors made at a local frame shop. I had shopped around for white mirrors that I liked and just couldn't find something simple and yet substantial so I had them made. It is just a 20" x 24" beveled mirror with a 2" frame all the way around. We don't have medicine cabinets. I decided to forgo the cabinets because I had extra storage with the double vanity (we used to have only a single) and because I was afraid we would drop things on the marble. We have had more than enough space so far. Paint is Benjamin Moore- Marilyn's Dress. Trim is just a white bathroom paint that we had laying around. Shower bench, threshold, and the tops of the half walls are all white corian. We had the window shutter installed. It is the faux wood with the standard white finish. I had read that real wood may be more prone to warping in a bathroom. Thanks for the kind words. I am going to post some pictures of my kitchen on the kitchen board. We updated it about 2 years ago....See MoreHELP!! What goes with White Carrara Marble vanity top?? And Floor
Comments (4)Take a look at travertine in a light ivory. It seems to go with everything. I have travertine on my bathroom floor, shower, and tub deck, then used crema marfil marble for an accent. It looks serene and beautiful! If you use the 18" travertine tiles, cut to 9 x 18 for the tub surround, there won't be that many grout lines. Get the installer to use "butt joints" in the tile so the grout lines are just teeny. Another alternative would be to go with a black and white theme....See MoreSuper White granite test redux ...and Danby Majestic marble too
Comments (12)I'm wondering about that 'Danby Majestic.' I hadn't heard of that variety of the stone and so went to the website of the folks who quarry Danby. They list these: Olympian White, Mountain White, Appalachian Green, Royal, Eureka Calacatta, Imperial, Montclair Arbescato and Mariposa, and Crystal Stratus. They also have something called Vermont Verde Cavendish, from another quarry. I believe they hold the trademark to 'Danby Marble.' I'm just beginning to explore Danby, so I'd curious to know more about 'Majestic' or if there are in fact other quarry sources of Danby. Given your staining experience -- which from what I understand sounds unusual -- I wonder if someone slapped the name on a different stone. Here is a link that might be useful: Vermont Quarries (Danby Marble)...See Morekippee
