What is your largest induction burner, and what do you put on it?
Comments (7)My largest burner is 11", too. I have 6qt, 8qt and 12qt pots, 12" skillet, 12" straight-sided skillet, all of which go on there. They're Tramontina tri-ply clad, except the 8qt, which is Wolfgang Puck from TJ Maxx. I also have a big Oneida non-stick skillet that fits on there. I use any pot with a bottom diameter of 9" or more on that burner. I use that burner on most days. When we make Sunday "family breakfast" with hash browns, eggs and a big ham slice in three separate skillets, I wish I had two burners that size. And there are only 3 of us in our house....See MoreWhat Do You Put in Your China Cabinet, Other Than China?
Comments (14)We used the top half of the china cabinet I inherited in the library of our former house. I had a plain box base made to hold it, stained it to the same color, and put it behind the small end of an L-shaped sofa, because with its own base, it was too tall to fit in our 8' rooms. It actually started life as a secretary-bookcase, but my great-grandfather, who bought it at auction, only bought the top half, and had a nice but distinctly inferior bottom made for it then. I've tried to find the other half, but with no success. Sigh. So much for its potential value. But I digress ... I put a few groups of nice old books, a couple of pewter pitchers, a plate or two, and some other attractive things in it. I also lined the back wall with a piece of cream jacquard fabric to lighten the whole business. Not sure how well you can see, but here it was: It was traditional in old houses to line the doors of large secretary-bookcases like this one with gathered green cloth to protect the books from sunlight, so you'd be in good company if you decided to put fabric in yours....See MoreWhat do you keep in your VERY shallow drawers (under cooktop)
Comments (9)Mine is also 1.5" (exactly) on the inside, though it's about 45" wide. There's a bite out of the back (it was built that way with edges around), for the services behind it. Besides what I mentioned above, there are a couple of spatulas that I had forgotten (besides the one that didn't fit so easily), a bag of bamboo skewers, cooking chopsticks, the bars that hold a steamer basket inside a wok, a big spoon rest and a couple of pasta measures. Truth, though, the small grill plate sits on the large one, the pot holders are in the asador grate, and the wooden spoons are all over the big spatter screen (which I hardly ever use). This picture is years old but it shows a lot of stuff. It's better organized now, and has more in it. I wouldn't actually do towels. It's too easy for one to get squished and then jam the drawer. The manual is a good idea if it's fairly stiff and flat (i.e., won't blow open and jam), and the trivets and rack are perfect. It's hard putting those away anyhow. :)...See MoreWhat do you have in your toekick drawers?
Comments (1)I have three of them, one under each 36" drawer bank. On the drawer bank that holds dinner and flatware, I store service platters and a cheese slate in the toekick. On the bank to the right of the range where I store my cookware and cooking utensils, I store my griddle pan, broiler pans and cooking bricks in the toekick. To the left of the range where I keep all the spices, oils, etc., I store the extra speedoven racks and a cutting board in the toekick. Here's a picture that I had originally posted in the other thread about toekick drawer hardware. Here is a link that might be useful: Toe Kick Drawer Hardware?...See Moreblfenton
