GAH! Kohler Vinnata 690 or 691!!!???

So I got the Vinnata 690 and when it came I felt like it was just enormous, and now I realize that maybe I should have gotten the 691. Am I just freaking out because it's bigger than anything I've had previously, or is this truly a mistake and do I need to send this sucker back to faucetsdirect.com ASAP?

If it's any help, I am getting the 30" wide Westbras Bristol quartz mitriani apron front sink. I just think this faucet is going to become the focal point of the entire kitchen, but again, maybe it's just buyers remorse and it will look better installed.

BTW if anyone has photos of their 690 installed, maybe that would help.

I love my Vinnata! Once you get it in your room, it won't seem so massive, given all the other elements in your room.

I bought my Vinnata on ebay - and it had a problem - it was all wobbly and I was SO sad because we were 'stuck' with it (although, we got it for $299 for a chrome one, so it was SUCH a good price!) Well, I called Kohler and they sent me a replacement part for free along with detailed directions on how to fix myself, and it works perfectly now. I was so impressed with Kohler, we didn't have a warranty because of how we ordered it -not from an authorized dealer, but they were helpful and knowledgeable. If I had to do over, I would probably risk it again. We had a $300 budget for our faucet, and I REALLY wanted a Vinnata, so it worked out. It was EXTREMELY nerve-wracking waiting for it (I was worried it wouldn't have all the parts). And it was heart-breaking when there actually a problem, but as they say on Little House on the Prairie, alls well that ends well. BTW - our faucet wasn't actually broken at all, it just needed to be taken apart and have a part tightened - didn't actually need the replacement part. The faucet is so well-made.

Nope, no problems w/my Vinnata...and I love it! Do NOT use a showroom to determine how well a faucet works - any faucet! Showrooms do not install them for actual use...just for show. When a pull down or pull out faucet is actually installed, a weight is placed on the hose to (1) keep the hose hanging straight down under the sink and (2) give the hose a little bit of tension for better control & for ease of replacing the head. That weight is custom adjusted for you. Has the sales person actually used any of the faucets she's selling? Yes, the Vinnata does come in two sizes...primary (K-690) and secondary (K-691) sink faucets. Are they "overwhelming"...no more so than most other pull down faucets. Pull down faucets are almost exclusively high-arc faucets. They almost have to be since you pull the faucet head down into the sink and you don't want it too close to the bottom or edges of the sink. If you want a low profile faucet, you might look into pull out faucets. With a pull out faucet, you pull the head straight out so they don't have to have maneuvering room beneath it. Whatever faucet you choose, be sure it has the "reach" to reach all the way into your sink. If you have a single-bowl sink you'll probably be OK with any pull down or pull out faucet. If you have a double-bowl sink check to be sure your faucet will reach well into both bowls. I have both a pull down (the primary/larger Vinnata) and a pull out (Fairfax). The Vinnata is installed on my main/cleanup sink; it's a double-bowl sink. The Fairfax is installed on my single-bowl prep sink. LOL! We did the same growing up....I was the oldest of 6 kids & we used to pull those kinds of pranks on each other all the time...and that was one of them! Hmmmmm...maybe that's the real reason I don't like separate sprayers! Yes, it is AB granite...polished. We love it and would definitely get it again if we had it to do over! While out looking, be careful of dyed stones. Ask the stone yards if they check for dyed stones. There are some unscrupulous suppliers (at the quarry) who dye their stones to look like deep black AB when they're really a gray AB or non-AB stone. If stone yards don't check, you'll have to check. Get a sample of your specific slab(s) to check...not some sample they've had laying around from other bundles. The "Stone Advice" thread has details on testing. It took us several months to find deep black AB slabs, so you may have to be patient. (The AB quarries were producing gray stones at the time...that was almost 18 months ago, so hopefully things have changed.) Good luck tomorrow! Hi bluemoon28 and timber.j, I missed your posts, sorry for the delay. Bluemoon--"Lemon Chiffon" is a nice, creamy BM off-white with a very slightly yellow hue for warmth. We looked at a bunch of different colors with our KD and that one fit our vision the best. It goes nicely with the "Chardonnay" color backsplash (Ken Mason Tile, Long Beach, CA) and the BM "Cloud White" walls. Our GC ordered the French door through B&B Hardware in Long Beach, CA. I don't have the name of the supplier, but do remember that they had a catalog of quite a few uncommon configurations. The one we picked matches an existing door in the family room of our 1930 home. Fabrication took about 6 weeks. Thanks to you both for your kind comments. Glad you like it! We are thankful every day that we were able to get this done.

I know exactly what you mean. When you first see that thing--whoa!! I have both, and the big one doesn't seem nearly as big now as it did when I first opened that box. :)

Here's my bigger one. My sink is a wee bit smaller than yours, and I don't think the faucet overwhelms it at all.

Glad you asked. I've been wondering whether the 591 was too large for my prep sink. Seeing the larger ones makes me think the smaller one might be okay with the smaller sink.

I used the smaller Vinnata in my kitchen redo because I was afraid that the larger size would be enormous. When I got the island size home, I was still a bit worried, but my family all loved it. As many have said, once installed, it is not as honkin' big as it is in that box.

The big one looks big in the box, looks at home with 30" wide farm sink and 10" ceilings anyway.

We used the 691 (the smaller one). It's paired with our 30" Shaw farmhouse sink and its right in front of a window. I saw the large one in a showroom and I thought it might be too big so we went with the smaller one. I love it and it's just the right size.
Honestly though, I think you can't go wrong with either one. Whichever one you choose, you'll end up getting used to it and it will blend in with the rest of the kitchen.

You guys are awesome! Thanks for all the photos, they do look great. This thing just looks so honkin big! It's going between the sink and a eat-at counter (which overhangs a tad). I just don't have the wherewithal to pack it up and return it right now though, so I'll cross my fingers and hope it looks as good as everyone else's.
