Well, congrats on making that big decision! I don't know anyone who has a shaped edge around the sink, so can't comment on that. I'm including a pic of our plain edge with a full bullnose, so you can see that there's not a lot of room around the sink edge for faucet, soap dispenser, backsplash etc. If you go with a fancier edge would that take up valuable real estate, let alone, I'm not sure if it would make it more or less prone to nicks at the edge.(I wish my reveal were a little more negative, but am OK with it).

I think it depends on your particular granite, your edge style, and usage. In our house, the edge of the granite was badly chipped in several areas around the sink. The granite was patterened and the chipped areas really weren't noticeable unless you were down at eye level, or ran your finger along the edge. However, this scared me enough that we rounded the edges of our new countertops at the sinks. They are quartz, and don't have a pattern. I was afraid that chips would be much more noticeable. I really like the look of the sharp 1/8" eased edges, but we are heavy (careless?) kitchen users, and they just weren't right for us.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by posts? Do you mean columns which will be integrated with the island by the granite? Do the cabinets butt up against the columns? Do you have any pictures to give a visual of what you're asking? If you can answer those, it may give others some help in answering you. I may not be able to check in tomorrow so FWIW I'll go ahead and give you a picture of mine, but it may not be what you're asking for. Thanks for replying. I will ask for a positive reveal- 1/8? My sink is rectangular so will a 1/2 radius profile on sink edge and corner look better than a 1/4 round?
