Nope, it's not just you. I'm still freaking out...cabs should be ready any day now. At least you have a pretty good idea of what to expect. Mine are custom and I've had to put my faith in drawings! :)

Don't forget to post the photos when your kitchen is done, I would love to see them.
Look at it this way, once it's done the anxiety will disappear. You will have something to be proud of to show off on this website.

Yay for you! The KM Ginger Glaze is so pretty. It's not just you. I had plenty of sleepless nights after the order was placed, but couldn't stop fondling my cabinets after they arrived. Just the one really because I only tore the cardboard on the one.

I am constantly second guessing myself and everytime i see another photo on this forum, i wanna kick myself for the design, layout, cabinet choice, etc!!!!!! i actually had a nightmare two nights ago that i came home and the COMPLETELY wrong cabinets were installed in my kitchen and they said, too bad!!!! it's almost as bad as the "showing up to school naked" dream!!!!

i'm sure in the end, we will both be happy!!!!!

Congratulations!!! Sometimes you just have to go with your gut. If you kept being drawn to the same thing/look at HD, then there's your answer. Can't wait to see progress pictures (soon I'm sure)!

Woo hoo! I'm so happy for you! Wasn't that long ago we were walking up Broadway and having a somewhat abstract discussion about the meaning of kitchen renos/ LOL! Now, here you are -- after an anxious period of struggling with choices, choices, choices, you have now made the anchor decision and are truly on your way! Am I jealous? Heck yeah! Okay, so I woke up at 4:30 in the morning in a cold sweat that we'd gotten the depth on one of the cabinets wrong. Had to get up, go measure again, and work up the numbers in my head to reassure myself that it was actually correct. (Or at least that I had to trust the very professional and knowledgable KD and contractor that they knew what they were doing!)

Am getting my head around the color. I decided the mid-tone will flow better into my living room than the lighter tone would have, so that's also helping to calm me. May need to rethink the lighting - I was going to do a single overhead lighting fixture and undercabinet lights. Now I'm thinking I need more light thrown on the cabinets themselves - maybe I should do the recessed lighting after all??? (May be subject for another thread...)

Can't wait to post my AFTER pictures. (My before pictures are embarrassing - I have to think about whether I'm going to post them!)

I can relate. Finally think I have a final layout and a pretty good idea of what I want for the cabs, but am scared to finally take the plunge. I asked the KD yesterday after finally, finalizing the layout what do we do after I pick the cabs. He said "ORDER THEM". That's what I was afraid of. Good luck!!! At least you know you're in the same boat with the rest of us.

I have to say I don't regret for one second getting rid of our 'sunshine ceiling' box and putting in recessed lighting- even though that meant gutting the ceiling (we gutted the whole kitchen anyways- what's a bit more drywall?). I do sometimes wish I had gone with nicer cabinets- but have no second thoughts about the lighting... does that help? :>)

Raehelen, that does help. Just did a bunch of reading about kitchen lighting, and now I understand a little more about why recessed lighting is good and why it's placed where it is. I've only ever known a single overhead fixture, so it never occurred to me I was casting shadows on my workspace!

So now I'm wondering if I really need the undercabinet lighting -- it was deemed by folks on this board to be absolutely necessary when I was only doing the single fixture, but maybe not anymore?? Sigh. So many cascading decisions.

Anyway, I love my KD. She just very calmly reassured me that we did the right depth on the corner cabinet. (Funny how the same anxiety can come back and bite you again and again!)

Malhgold - order the cabinets!!! Because *then* - you can stop obsessing about them!!! LOL.

Marthavila, haven't you ordered your cabinets yet??? I thought you had! You were getting that beautiful painted finish, no? (Hey, if my kitchen is done before yours, that would be really bad - get on it, girl!!!)

Cat_mom, had to go for the quartz - you should see it with that cabinet color! Super-rich looking - like it was made for it. :-)

And heck, it took me this long to find a cabinet color I liked. I can't imagine what would happen if you let me loose in a granite yard!!! (Uh, what year was I supposed to be finished by???)

I guarantee you that your kitchen will be done looong before mine, Charlikin! The many, many reasons why could be the subject of a whole other thread. But I've been trying hard not to unpack the violin and start singing my disaster aria all over the Forum. (For now, I'm choosing instead to just vent my angst in those fretful little hints I've been dropping in my posts here and there.) Surely this too shall pass. Someday. LOL! Meanwhile, just know that I honestly do take some comfort in seeing all my GW friends get going and completing their own kitchens. You can live vicariously, ya know. :)

As for you, I bet those cabs and countertops are going to look wonderful! With all the care you take to decide things, no way did you get these choices wrong. I'm also real happy to hear that you've got a great KD working for you who can provide assurances throughout this anxiety-provoking process. And, by all means, do get the recessed lighting as well as the undercab lighting! If all that light is not needed all the time, you can install it to run in sections, or on dimmers, or just don't turn everything on all at once. But, if after all the work of the reno, you find you really need more light and don't have it. . . . Need I say more?

I will bet that the quartz will look terrific with your cabs! The important thing is that you are happy with your choices, and it seems like you will have every reason to be!!!!

Tracey we had such a good time at lunch talking about the kitchen you are planning...I love saying that...we were at lunch ! OK , you are going to love the cabs and they will be so great with the countertop color . I hope you will brave it and post the before pics....come on...we all love to see the "before and after". To answer your question: Yes, I think EVERYONE panics about every choice after they make it. I generally go about confidently making decisions, then start to panic and worry before they are installed thinking maybe I should have explored more options.

Relax, enjoy the process, and post if you need help. We're here for you!!

It's funny, my contractor tells me about clients he's had who just go into the cabinet store and say, oh, that's a nice display, I'll take those cabinets. And that sink and that faucet and those knobs. And then they go to the plumbing supply store (the same day) and choose all their bathroom fixtures. And then the tile store (after lunch, I suppose) and buy all the tile and backsplash and everything. And they're done. And at the end, they love their new kitchen and bathroom.

I can't imagine. I make him repeat the story to me like it's a fable.

I had major doubts after I ordered my cabinets. I also got a mid-tone & I worried they'd look too country or old-fashioned, however, now that they're installed, I just love 'em.

It'll be okay, promise!

Definitely a fable...at least as regards to those of us on this Forum! Has anyone done that? I know I agonized over cabinets....wood species, finish, glaze, door style....and then after all that had to change door styles (cost!)....and fretted over that until......well, I'm sure you've seen pics of my kitchen all over the place.....but I am SO happy with the final result!

Then, of course there was the granite vs quartz, then when I had quickly found a granite I loved....it was no longer available....off to many granite yards.

Then there was the floor tile.....

Then the paint color....OK, that one's not decided yet....see....the agonizing never ends!!!!

Anyway....you are not alone in your worries....you're one of us!!!!!
