Painting kitchen cabinets: BM Satin Impervo vs. BM Advance
Comments (17)Kenzie you have the perfect kitchen for hand-painting kitchen cabinets. You are going to be amazed at the improvement if you follow Christopher's directions. Just don't skip any steps and take your time :). You will see a little grain since your cabinets are oak, but that helps eliminate the look of brush marks also. I am one of those people who don't mind seeing the grain of oak - at least they look like real wood. I have one question for Christoper: How does the BM Impervo and Advance compare to SW Pro-Classic as far as ease of applying?? My reason for asking is that I have used the Pro-Classic on a vanity and was very impressed with the quality of the finished product - just would like to know for future projects....See MoreKnobs/lever finish oil rubbed bronze vs. matte black
Comments (3)Hi PPS7, when I built a year ago, I decided to go w/ORB because I wanted an *older* look/feel to the home~*I* feel it accomplishes what I wanted. Yes, I did all my door hardware, door stops, as well as bathroom fixtures in the same finish. My light fixtures are mostly black w/ the exception of chandeliers. IMO, it's a personal choice. I like continuity in a home, that's why I chose to do everything in an ORB. If i were in your shoes, I would use the ORB as the black looks much to flat to me~light fixtures don't have to match in either case. Hope i've helped. ;o)...See MoreBona Traffic HD - Matte vs Satin Poly finish?
Comments (12)i just got the matte finish on plain old (new) white oak in my kitchen remodel. They used amber stain because they said it would match rest of house best (old white oak floors that have yellowed). Even though I might have preferred lighter I was OK with that. But decided to hold my ground and asked them to use the matte finish which the floor guys were sort of against. I love the finished product!! It's super smooth, no shine and makes a more modern clean look. It dried nearly instantaneously and they did the whole thing in a day from sanding to top finish. Amazing what new products and technology have done to transform floor finishing. (I last had floors done in around 2001 - big mess). I sure hope this stands up because I love the look. I recommend it. And no smell at all after it dries (same day!)...See MoreI spy a bright white cabinet door at IKEA! Axstad matte white
Comments (62)@tee8 We just got this fridge for the remodel and it’s working great. We wanted the in-door ice and this model has that without making the left hand door feel too bulky. We had a standard depth side-by-side from the 90’s before buying this one. It only stuck out a few more inches but I think it makes the kitchen feel totally different to have everything flush. In the tight U layout, every inch counts. Space-wise I much prefer the top/bottom fridge! I have no idea if we gained or lost cubic foot storage but it feels like everything fits so much better....See MoreChacha Lamacha
