ISO largest single-bowl ss sink for 30'' cabinet

Hoping to stand on the shoulders of TKO giants here. Has anybody done the research on the largest single-bowl SS sink that can fit in a 30" cabinet? The interior of my cabinet will measure 28.5" . The cabinet sides can be trimmed if need be, but I guess I wouldn't want any drastic cutting. I really like the Ticor S112 but I'm pretty sure this is too big, even if the cab sides are trimmed.

I have a 30 inch base and from speaking with 2 different plumbing supply stores and my KD, it seems that the largest sink size would be 21-22", which is the actual bowl size. I bought the Ticor S405.

I'm pretty sure you can modify the base cab (trim the sides) to do a lot better than that. My current sink base is 30" and the interior measurement of the sink I have in there is 28 1/2". It's an integrated Corian sink, though, so I won't be able to reuse it. I think you can use a 30" sink in an undermount provided it slopes so the 30" width is reduced to 28" pretty quickly.

Yes, but at over $6000, way out of my league! I found a 36" SS single bowl sink from Ariel sinks. Here are my favorites: Ruvati- RVH 8300 one large bowl 32x19 decent price. Ticor TR 4100 or TR 4000. both good prices. Then I just found and fell in love with....a triple bowl. Which I cannot find anywhere! Ticor 1900 If I could find the TR1900 I think I would stop wanting a single bowl. Seems there are warehousing problems...whatever that means. Cannot get one until mid April...I translated that to actually mean early summer. All of them have the ledges and accessories. I am thinking about putting either the TR4100 or 4000 in my laundry room to wash our small dog in. Just can't decide whether the big sink or the smaller sink with drainboard would be best. I don't wash a lot by hand so it is mostly for the dog. I can set my dog on the drainboard and soap her up. I have about 36" for a cabinet. Wishing for a TR1900.....Peke

Here is a to-scale visual for you showing 3 different sink sizes in a 39" corner cabinet. Do make sure your corner cabinet is 39" and not 36" as this will make a difference in the maximum sink size. In the photo, the white rim around the gray is the lip that runs around the sink that attaches to the stone countertop for an undermount sink. The gray is the actual interior space of the sink. Each sink size is denoted next to it. I have both the 30" rectangle sink & the 23" D-Sink. The 30" fits everything including my super long grate panels for my rangetop (12"x24") with room to spare. I have a D-Sink in the kitchen and one in the laundry, it pretty much fits everything too including my roasting pan-at 17.5" long. One of the advantages of the D-Sink is that you gain a couple inches in width (20" vs 18" referring to measurement from top at the faucet to bottom at the counter) which helps visually with a corner cabinet and the dead space behind the faucet. Either shape you go with will be more than adequate for what you want to wash/soak in the sink--especially the 30" rectangle. But I don't think the 33" is a good idea as it will increase the amount of countertop between you & the sink by 2" which as LWO mentions will be a strain on your back. If you were going double bowl with the sink, that would be a different story, but since you're going single bowl, you will be just fine. I've also attached a link to the brand of sinks we put in in case your builder/KD has a hard time finding a ~30" sink. Ours are model #s LXUS03 & LXUS04. Minimum base cabinet listed for the Blanco above is 30 inches (and my Orca is 33, which I have), so I don't think one would be "forgoing" needed clips if that's the specification. Though I don't know how they secure it, it must be designed for that type of installation, maybe one of the granite people here can comment? You could also look into a sink setter, which some on here have used and they look like it would be much easier to change out a sink. I'd certainly agree about trying to go smaller than the recommended size though. I was originally going to get a Silgranite 33 in for my 33 in cabinet. Then I had The Great Sink Freakout of April and changed to the Orca the day before I ordered. I was concerned about breakage (I am always the person with the 1/1000 bad luck) and I had read one too many times warnings about scooping sides, especially on frameless cabinets, which I have. Many here have a greater risk tolerance. I'm risk averse. I paid so much for my new cabinets I was nauseous all day when I ordered them. No way I was busting one apart for a broken sink! Listen to your gut on this, it will tell you which way to go! (And as a responsible gun owner, I must add that the guy that shot the sink violated one of the most important rules of handling a gun: always treat a gun as if it were loaded until you personally verify otherwise. Plus one that is only slightly less critical: only put your finger on the trigger when you are ready to shoot. One of the few requirements in NY that makes sense is the need for a safety course before you apply for a permit, sounds like this guy could benefit from one too!)

I have a 65/35 double sink which I would not trade for a single since I use it for both prep and clean every day, and don't like the idea of having raw meat and dirty veggies in the main sink I use for cleanup at the same time. But there are about 4 to 6 occasions per year that I wish I had a larger sink ... especially when I want to soak my 20" rangetop grill. What I did was bought a super-large roasting pan (24x14) that I can use as a temporary "large soaking sink" when I want to clean the grill. Got that idea last Easter when I realized that's how I washed my 17" roasting pan ... i.e., filled it with soapy water and let it soak on the counter beside the sink. Thought then, "hey if only this was bigger I could wash the grill at the same time". So I bought a bigger one, and now I have the best of all worlds that works for me.

For most undermount sinks, esp. stainless steel types, there is about a 1" lip around the sink to secure it to the countertop. You really need about an inch between the edge of the lip and the cabinet for the clips to be mounted. For a 30" base cab, I'd say the largest practical size sink would be about 26" total width,(+/- 24" inside) and even that may require a little trimming. Also play close attention to front to back depth to insure you have enough room for the faucet and 3"-4" of counter in front of the sink, depending on the installer and the countertop material. I have a 34" base cabinet, did a search and found a 30" x 18" outside (28"x16" inside) rectangular single bowl from an ebay seller called afaucet. The sink has arrived and looks to be of good quality 15 guage, rear drain like Blanco with drain grooves. You might check out that option, too.

I thought I had seen installations of undermount sinks where the sink was held up with steel straps instead of clips. Has anybody else heard of this? Would this permit a larger sink since you wouldn't need space for the clips?

I have this square sink from Ticor. We plan on trimming the sides of the cabinet just enough for the rim to sit on it and still have a level surface for the counters. Can't get a much tighter fit than this!

My sink is a single bowl Linea Aqua Vienna which has an overall size of 30" x 18" with a bowl size of 28" x 16". It fits in our 30" sink base. The first picture shows where we cut out a "notch" in the top of the cabinet for the sink to fit. The next two pictures show the cabs ready and waiting for granite (to be installed on the 20th). The piece of wood behind the sink will be getting an area cut out for the faucet and the soap dispenser. I don't know, yet, if they will be using any clips for the sink. The granite measuring person was very satisfied when he came out to template, so I don't forsee any problems.
