Comments (150)3 more over the weekend... Ruellia has little rootlets now. Heavenly Blue MG and a Pink or White MG that I had forgotten about! *********** On the otherhand in my little 4-shelf greenhouse, with my indoor-sown plants that are being hardened-off, I had zipped the flaps shut on Saturday night when it was rather stormy out there. What were nice healthy green plants on Saturday were crispy dead and black looking on Sunday morning. I don't think it got cold enough overnight to have been because of frost or anything.... so it must be from too much heat build up in there on Sunday morning (yeah, I didn't get out there till around lunch time.....) I managed to revive a few things and left the flaps open ever since! Ang...See MoreIf you had a little extra to spend on your kitchen...
Comments (25)-So if I had extra money I would use it on equipment. Really good knives, pans, some bakeware. - Yes. I bought some more quality pieces even though I already have everything I really need. The good stuff from the '60's. I used my extra money to revamp my bathroom. Walk in shower!!! After the kitchen was done, I bought a scratch 'n dent Kenmore gas range and although I am very satisfied with it, I would like to have an induction AFTER they make a white one and After my REC gets all the lines fixed so I'm not without power when the wind blows. On the other hand, I'd be thrilled with an old gas stove- you know- the $8,000 one and a Big Chill refrigerator. How many $2,000 will I have to use? Oh, and some kind of supplemental heat to use when there is no power. Maybe a wall mount LP heater. That's on my To Do List....See MoreCare to share your best kitchen storage ideas?
Comments (47)I had a few extra inches planned between my refrigerator and framed entranceway so that the refrigerator door could open fully. A panel was supposed to cover it. I never would have been able to do something really useful with the few inches as I didn't need a pull-out that big right next to my doorway. After the sheetrock was put up, we discovered a few more inches! I remembered that someone on this forum had a cabinet mounted sideways next to the refrigerator so that it opened out. I kind of used that idea but the cabinet opening is on the other side of the doorway. So now I've got a recessed custom built-in cabinet in my tiny mudroom. The cabinet depth is the door frame and "kitchen filler space". The filler space is covered by a small panel and I think of it as my reclaimed/found space! jayne...See MoreBest and worst of your kitchen?
Comments (30)We remodeled our kitchen three years ago and I love everything about it. It's not perfect because I had to work within the footprint I had but I did a pretty good job designing a new one if I must say so myself. It's hard to pick out a best thing but if I had to, I would probably say the refrigerator drawers. We had to put in a counter-depth French door refrigerator and the only place for it was on the other side of the island...not too convenient. I countered that little piece of inconvenience by putting in refrigerated drawers on the island. I keep all the fruits and veggies in the top drawer and drinks in the bottom. Everything that requires food prep is right at my fingertips. If I had to pick out a worst thing, it would probably be the island outlet. Because of all the drawers in the island, the only place to put the outlet was on the back side of the island. It would have been more convenient on the side but it wouldn't fit. It's only a problem when I use my Kitchen Aid mixer, requiring me to walk around and plug it in. Not such a terrible thing since I don't use the mixer that often anymore. I went from a U-shaped kitchen with a peninsula cook top to a center island with six feet of pure work space. I love, love, love it!...See MoreMarc Johnson
