I'd get a Tapmaster.

Never had a Tapmaster but I've got a Delta Touch. Love it.... no drips if you touch with your wrist, arm, back of hand etc.
Even if you touch with your wet hand, it just takes one little fingertip to make it work.
An advantage that I see over the Tapmaster is being able to easily reach across the room or on my way by and turn it on and off. If I'm filling a big pot or soaking something, I can turn it off while doing something else and am not tethered to a smallish area where the pedal is.
Same thing when my husband and I are both working at opposite ends of the big sink. I would think that we'd be fighting for the pedal if we had a Tapmaster.

tapmaster also has a newer model that gives you the choice of hot or cold water. tapmaster hands down!

I have no experience with the tapmaster but I have the Delta touch faucet. I have been using it for over a year (and never had to change the batteries) and it is fabulous. I am home all day and use it constantly. Your husband can touch the underside of the faucet with yucky hands and if there are any drips they will go right in the sink. My teenager turns it on with his forehead :)!

I have a question regarding the operation of any of the tapmaster styles.

If a faucet has a tapmaster installed, can the water still be turned off and on by the faucet itself? Or can the faucet only be turned off and on by the tapmaster?

My Delta is almost 18 months old now. It has seen a lot of hard use and is still using the original set of cheapo batteries that came with it so the battery issue is pretty much not an issue!

You can always set the Tapmaster to hold open and use the faucet as if the Tapmaster wasn't there. This is very useful for company. :)

The one thing you can't do is turn it on with one foot controller and turn it off with a different one. ;)

We've had the Delta Touch for almost a year and love it. We haven't had to change batteries, either. We have a large ceramic water bowl for our mutts and when I'm filling it, it requires holding with two hands. I then "touch" with the tip of my nose (high arch!) and the water is off. I can also sit the bowl on the counter and pull the spout over. I would definitely get another one and wish they had them for bathrooms when we did our remodel last year (they do now, I understand).

You can turn on the Tapmaster to be on while you're somewhere else too--just kick it real hard.

I doubt anyone has tried both, but you never find anyone who would rather go back to a handsy faucet after using either.

Well, actually I do know one person who did, from the Pilar. Her solenoid made a terrifying noise, like a garbage disposal, every time she turned on the faucet and delta sent them wrong parts more than once. She gave up and went back to a "handsy" (good name for them) faucet, but she's the only one I know of.

To elaborate on Fori's last, there are two settings for the Tapmaster--you can press against it to make the water flow only while you're holding it, or you can push it to a locked open position. The former is great for saving water if you do a lot of on off while you prep, because you don't have to move your hands out of the stream area. The latter is good for setting the faucet to fill a large pot, or whatever. Or for when you'd rather use the faucet controller.

We ordered from conserv-a-store. Very pleasant experience. Also, I agree, cheaper than anywhere else I found.

We're putting the delta touch faucet in the "dog room" and the tapmaster on the main sink in our kitchen because the touch doesn't match in there. I'll let you know in a few months which of the two is better to use for us :)

I don't know anything about the tapmaster but we have the delta touch faucet and love it. You can touch it anywhere with a wrist or hand to turn it on and off. I always touch it with my wrist on the underside of the faucet and the water doesn't drip anywhere but in the sink. We also have had ours installed over a year and have not had to replace the batteries yet. It is very convenient and great to use when working with raw meats as you mentioned you like to do. I could never go to another faucet after using this one.

Beagles, have you had the opportunity to use either of your 2 hands-free faucets? How do you like them? I just learned of tapmaster, and am thinking of getting one for my current (not new) kitchen.
