Almost finished white & black kitchen

Here is our almost finished kitchen. Candelight cabinets in white dove with a black island (with Sand off). We're still waiting for the bluestar range, and arctic cream granite.

It looks really nice so far. It will be beautiful with the choices you have made so far. My kitchen is in the center of our house and I don't have a sink at the window so I envy yours and those I see. I hope you post pictures with everything done. It is fun isn't it?!

Wow, love the transformation. Can't wait to see it all finished. Your inset cabinets are so pretty. I like the way they meet at the ceiling and all that cabinet space!

Willtv, looking again at your kitchen (I know I already replied but since I also have a small kitchen, I find your kitchen to be fascinating and just gorgeous making good use of space. It is so beautiful the way you tied everything together perfectly.). Your kitchen is one of my favorites! I really love the overall look so much! I would have never dreamed such big 24 X 24 tiles would look so amazing! There is not one thing I dislike about your kitchen. I am now thinking of Halogen lighting after seeing your kitchen since changing my bulbs to the bright white light like halogens have in my ugly Fluorescent fixture that is so outdated, gave me the look that my neighbors have with the new tiles since they have track lighting using Halogen lights. That counter is so amazing and your kitchen cabinets are so perfect going up to the ceiling. The grout compliments the tiles and allows you to see the design you did with them and how beautiful and big they are. I also like how efficient it is and probably a joy to cook in! That backsplash is so amazing to me really tying in your whole theme and I love how the cabinets go up to the ceiling with the crown molding on top. I wish I had those two big windows over my sink. That is one thing I regret that I was not patient and waited until an end unit in a good location in my townhouse complex came available since I would like to have more lighting. But I fell in love with the layout of the unit I bought, the location, the fenced in backyard, the permanent woods (I live in the preserved wetlands and the town owns the woods and will never build on them) in back of my fence for privacy, and wonderful quiet neighbors. I also had to move or sign a new lease where I was renting at a ridiculous amount I was paying since rents are so high where I live. My utilities also were so high were I was living since it was like living in a two floor tiny condo paying the water and sewer bill with a minimum fee, an electric bill and a gas bill since nothing was included in the high rent. But I love owning a place and getting to install the appliances that make my life easier that I enjoy so much, decorating it to be my taste and having a garage.

Julia--your kitchen is amazing! A nice not to you-- the followers on this forum are not just looking for photos, but the details. Most of us are in the process of working on our own projects and it's nice to see how a particular item actually looks in a finished kitchen. Without the details we could all just as easily do an image search on Google. I hope you will come around and share the details. We all just love your kitchen.

I'm slightly biased but I love the F & I backsplash. Love your cabinets with the sleek, long pulls. Floor is just right with your black granite and ss appliances and even with the gray in the F & I. Can't wait to install my F & I. I keep looking at the tiles in their boxes. Hopefully, mine will be done before summer. Your kitchen turned out very nice, indeed. Well done!!

oh, momo...now I have google ann sacks and found those tiles...I JUST LOVE THEM. $83 per square foot, eh? Ay yi yi! I also found other tiles there that I love. Part of me almost wants to go nuts and ethnic and busy, since the rest of my kitchen is so simple. I am just afraid I will tire of it. Like this... (not this exactly, I just mean a busy, ethnic pattern. Kind of looks 70s to me, also.) cherry-Yes, we addressed the torso issue already! Yet another reason I want the mirror antiqued, and also not flat panes but rather tiles, so the "cuts" will break up the view a bit! I know what you mean, some of these threads get so long and I want to give my 2 cents but I just *know* one of my comments has probably already been made, but I say it anyway. Thanks for the input. You are not the only one with the opinion that with so much stainless and "coolness" I should go with warmth/color/texture. The things is...I see so many finished white kitchens similar to mine that have white tile as a BS, and I like them. I also like those pics that momo posted in her link, and they are white, with SS appliances, and mirrored BS and I think they look good. Well, I am torn and DH really wants me to make a decision so he can install. He wants the tile/color/texture look. I will keep you guys updated! Thanks so much!

Great change! Nice that you had room to extend the kitchen and get more room around your stove without giving up anything on the sink wall. Love the new island design, with the cabinets at the ends of the overhang. So much more elegant and finished than the other.

Love the new wood floors, and the lines of the cabinets. Looks great to have them run all the way to the ceiling. Understated and very stylish!

Here's some more after the granite. 99% done. All we need to do is the backsplash which will be (I think) white subway tile.

The black rectangle around the marble behind the range is dramatic and matches the dark recess around the refrigerator. Excellent design feature!

This looks to be a really functional space. Good work!

Am thinking about pendant lighting a lot lately. What wattage are your pendants? Have you had a chance to work below them on the island to determine whether it's sufficient?

The pendants are $15 Lowe's. We couldn't decide so we went cheap, and can always upgrade later. They actually look pretty good. I have one more to install over the sink. The wattage is 60w max I think. We stuck 20w bulbs in as that's all we had lying around, and it's almost enough with those.

Stunning! I love your granite and the inset white and black Candlelight cabinets. Did you enjoy working with Candlelight? A simple white backsplash will be perfect for pulling it all together. Thanks for posting the pictures.

Candlelight cabinets are really nice. I am impressed with the quality. We did wait a little long for the custom white (BM White Dove), but feel it was well worth the wait.

That's a nice transformation. I love that gray-blue-violet or whatever your wall color is with the cabinets and floor.

Wow, what an even bigger transformation in the last 2 weeks w/ the granite, hardware, and appliances. Makes me realize how white cabinetry can really "pop" by changing out the hardware. So lovely, you'll have some great parties here.

Beautiful! I love this! Can you post the name of your granite, and the type of hood you have? What are you going to do for a backsplash along the other counters?

Did you consider black subways? Just my "I wonder" question. My kitchen is white so you know my feeling about that. I don't know if I will ever do a backsplash. The white paint is doing an OK job and I don't see anything that screams, Take Me Home With You!
