Have you mixed Lutron and Leviton products?
Comments (4)Hi, I am hoping to change out the Lutron Diva switches we put up for our recessed lights (aren't those switches the ones with little lites and the presets and stuff?) DH loves them (electrical engineer), but I feel they are a little too complicated (one click to shut off, another click to bring it up to preset brightness, then second click to bring up to full brightness). I can see difficulties with people coming in to help in the kitchen and getting frustrated, I even have a hard time with them and they've been up for a month and half. I think we are going to try just a sliding/on/off switch instead. Also, that being said, just be careful, the colors that look like almond in both brands are different from each other by a little (one is yellower) if I recall correctly. Hope this helps....See MoreColor Matching Outlets / Alarm Sensors
Comments (8)You may not be able to paint the alarms and sensors. The warranty is voided on mine if you paint them. I first try to minimize outlets and switches by placing them where needed but not randomly in the way of good picture hanging territory or things like that. Electricians hate me because I give them measured drawings that say "HERE" instead of a general location. If not, I paint them and painting them well takes time. I don't paint the switch or the receptacle itself, just the plates, but I have changed receptacle color or switch color when I have changed wallcolor. I agree that the Lutron plates are bulky. I have them in several locations and they are thick enough that the top can gather dust in a day or two. I have gotten plain glass ones and painted the backsides the wall color. You could also look at Forbes and Lomax. They make glass plates that can be painted or papered (there is a piece to hold wallpaper flat. And the switch plates are screwless. They are held on by a fastener around the switch itself. They are beautiful and expensive, but may be worth it in some areas. The outlet plates are not: you can get a glass one as with the switches or you can get a very flat metal one with screws. Here is a link that might be useful: Forbes and Lomax...See MoreSwitches/dimmers to match wood

Comments (8)Look at the colors of Lutron. I have GFCIs, regular outlets, and switchplates in the same color as my walls, and they're fabulous. I used Goldstone from the Satin series to match my yellow walls, but you may like one of the other series, like the Gloss or Matte, for the grays. If you hunt around the net, you'll find good deals on them. The colored GFCI outlets were the most expensive at $27 or so, but the regular ones are more reasonable....See Moreastridh
