I think you can get a more traditional vibe going with similar materials. What if you were to use a beveled white ceramic subway and a quilted stainless behind the range. Same idea... more traditional application.

Since the ground of the stone has so much olive and it's such a spectacular stone with tons of movement and color; I think I'd choose a backsplash to compliment the overall tone. Right now I'm thinking a light olive color glass subway tile... maybe a 4x8. I have all my sites bookmarked on my home computer and I won't be home till early this evening. I'll see if I can find something I have in mind when I get home and have a chance.

Thanks mayflowers. I am sure people are tired of looking at my kitchen at this point, but this is such a hard decision, because it is so permanent! The two ideas I am now considering are: (1) your idea of cream tile matching the wall color (though I cannot really find one that truly comes close to the wall color) and (2) still considering a sage green tile, but I feel like that may take away from my green shelves. I am considering square, rectangular sizes/ different layouts of tiles at this point at this point. as for area, I am just considering doing the area under the wall from the cabinet to the left of the stove to under the microwave. May or may not run it up in the corner to the first green shelf. I am also going to leave the area in the third picture without a backsplash (the pic with the glass cabinets).

That is some really nice granite! I decided to take a look at some pendant lights (I assume they'll go over an island, but if you need something else, like a ceiling semi-flush mount, please let me know) and chose to look at pendants with nickel finish to go with the cabinet handles. I can expand the search to include bronze or other finish families too, though!
