White quartz - does red wine stain?

I'm about to go with Caesarstone in Blizzard for my counters but as all of our parties end in the kitchen, I'm worried about red wine stains in the quartz. Can someone please let me know if this is something I really need to consider? This is the exact reason I'm not going with marble and if I can't have my first choice for countertops, I sure don't want my second choice to present with the same problems!

We're thinking of going with Ceasarstone Oyster and wonder the same thing. I haven't heard about wine, but there was some complaints in a post a while ago about vinegar or something acidic etching the shine off some lighter colored quartz. I'm starting to think that no counter material is 100% fool proof.

I have white Zodiaq Bianco Carraro quartz and have had it since last September. Occasionally a ring of red wine has sat on my countertop overnight. I usually freak out in the morning when I see it, but thankfully I have not had any problems with marking. It still looks like new and I love it. It is on the island and I have Handstone on the perimeter. It has not etched at all either. I care for it but I don't 'baby' it. My neighbours have quarts as well (2 of them) and they both love it as much as I do.

Thank you, Linda. I was a little fearful of bleach, and had found an article recommending hydrogen peroxide (3%) and water. I dabbed it carefully, and it took away most of the stain. Then I took the bleach pen as you suggested, and very carefully dabbed it on the remaining stain. Between the two methods--Success! there is a slight lightening of the wood around where the stains were, but I have oiled it, and it seems to be evening out a bit. probably with time...

Thank you sooo much for your advice!! I'm committed to this stone so passing was more for peace of mind than my decision. I was going to use soft scrub right away but kept pushing it off 'next thing I do after this' over and over - when I finally did it the soft scrub product I used only faded it a little - Really upsetting! Then I saw the soft scrub gel on the shelf and decided to let it soak a little before scrubbing - when I went back to it the gel had completely dissolved it -, NO SCRUBBING, no etching, and most important NO WORK!!! YAY! My quartz passed the Sharpie test!!!!!! Thanks Joanne for your tips, they worked - I should know this, but I don't remember the exact composite of my counter - I have for gotten by now - I'll ask again - but that's irrelevant as it works, it really works!!! Nika, while the sharpie test is extreme I use them all the time and though the house rule is no sharpies for kids, the 3 ft tall picture of a man drawn by my 2 yr old at the side door is evidence that rules w/ 2 yr olds aren't always golden! Mr. clean sponge isn't all that strong compared to a sharpie- hmm maybe I should try the soft scrub? 5 months for a remodel, that's nothing, I have you beat by lots!Way to long to admit in print Rachel

You might want to try Mama's Miracle Linen Soak on those red wine stains. You'll need to dissolve it in boiling water, but then you just turn off the heat and soak the item until the stain is gone. I've never seen it fail! Lots of churches even use it on Communion cloths. I'm posting photos of a pair of white jeans that was stained with spilled wine when I leaned up against the sink. I didn't do anything until the next day, but then I mixed the solution and soaked the jeans overnight. All gone! (Forgive my bad lighting; the jeans were pristine white, not at all yellow afterwards.)

It can be drilled and filled. Looks like blood contamination at the factory. We found a mosquito perfectly squished into a sheet of plastic laminate back in my store fixture manufacturing days. Couldn't feel him, but there he was.

I have had Ceasarstone Nougat, which is a light color as well. I have seen small amounts of red wine on the countertop and no staining. I have mentioned before that I left an empty can sitting near the sink overnight. In the morning, there was a rust ring. I did have to scrub a bit to remove it. I wouldn't want to scrub the surface much as it seems that it might make it less shiny, or etch it from the scrubbing. Everything else has wiped up instantly and there have been no chips, scratches, or stains in the year that I have had this countertop.

Many people order samples and then put liquids on them overnight to see if stains are left. HTH.
