Those paintings are gorgeous! They really fit the room. The cherry blossom theme with the ginger jar lamps are perfect. Can you make a third one? It think they would really look nice having three of them in a tight row on the wall on the other side of the room. Even the two of them put together on the other wall will have great impact. Art that you create yourself is so much better than purchased art. I brings a joy to the heart to view. Since they are unframed and similar to the wall color hanging them together in a row on the larger wall makes a bigger statement than having them separate and hiding behind the lamps. "Anyway, I think I need something above the bed - maybe a starburst clock or something." No electronics over the head of the bed. Bad Feng Shui. It would be hard to view in that location too and you already have a bedside clock. Maybe a convex mirror like shown in your inspiration pic, but one more lightweight in feel. This one would mimic the brown branches and blossoms in the paintings balancing out both sides of the room.

Thanks so much for all of your helpful suggestions last month about what to do with the alcove above my banquette. We decided (for now) to take down the mirror and build paneling in that area to match the molding profile on our kitchen cabinet doors. I think DH did a great job matching the trim on our cabinets. This may look a little plain and in the photos the trim detail is washed out; but in real life it makes the banquette area even more integrated into the kitchen, especially since everything is painted in the same color. The magnetic paint is still underneath the top coat of white paint and you can see it in action in this photo: We are still trying to decide what art work or clock to put on the wall above; for now we've put a picture of our house by a local artist. After the holidays when I have more time I plan to make a thin, tufted back for the banquette, possibly with a nailhead trim detail: A clock for the wall above is still a possibility; I'm also thinking a glass shelf for plants (one of the GW suggestions) or these glass wall pockets might be interesting in that space: Comments and suggestions are still welcome!

Bingo! Just what I thought. So, here's some thoughts for furniture arrangement. Place the love seat on the wall where the sofa is now and place the sofa facing the tv/fireplace. I can't tell how close to put the sofa to the love seat, but I think using the ottoman in front of the sofa is a better placement. Now, with the smaller seating on the wall, you can have a narrow shelf/sofa table behind the love seat for a couple of lamps and décor. Another option is to place the love seat on the window wall and use a sofa table behind it. Adding a bit of color and texture can bring it all together. Any of this of interest? I would have to see the pieces arranged before I could offer any more suggestions.

HU- I am also noticing that you have two different color families in your place. In the living room you have a more subdued teal - tan-gray family. Further away I see there is an art piece with a vivid chartreuse with a touch of orange. There is a definite disconnect there. If you are going to keep that bright colored-piece (and I do love those colors, they bring life into your place!), I would do the following: 1. Choose an art piece that incorporate some of those colors along with your teal to marry the two families to unify your space. Or you can still use a mirror, you don't need to use an art piece in that alcove. Use the colors of the brightly colored art piece in your living room to unify your place. 2. Add some throw pillows with the colors you want. 3. Add accessories. You can put on the coffee table a dish with balls covered with chartreuse-colored moss , and on the buffet or console a plant with profuse light green foliage. Or better yet, a tall cylindrical vase with bird of paradise flowers or orange gladioli. 4. Add a throw that combines the colors you want to marry. There is a company called Textillery that makes the most marvelous handwoven chenille throws, only they cost a fortune. You can teach yourself to knit, there are a plethora of online videos and books in the library, etc to teach yourself (I did) and just make yourself one in the exact colors you want. You can have the main color being the color of your trim, and the additional colors the colors you want to add in. Use big fat circular needles, and you don't need any fancy stitches either, because it is the colors that are the interesting thing here. And don't worry, no one will ever notice any mistakes besides you! If you are still nervous about doing this all alone, you can buy yarn in a yarn store, and they will teach you everything and in fact, in the yarn stores, they have classes, and even knitting circles where people (mostly women, though there are men that attend too) sit around for hours and knit and crochet and bring their various projects and chat and get help from the store owners and each other. Yarn at these yarn stores does cost more than yarn purchased at some place like Michaels or Jo-Ann or Hobby Lobby, but boy-oh-boy, do they ever have some exquisite quality yarns to salivate over!
