I haven't done mine yet, but I got quotes from several fabricators. One I've heard really good things about from several sources is Northbay Stoneworks in Novato. I also have recommendations farther north, depending on where you live (I'm in Petaluma).

Mine were done by Northbay Stoneworks as that is the sub that my GC uses. I admittedly do not know how much they charged as our total contract with the GC was not broken down into how much each thing cost. But they did do a very good job on the counters. Our Millenium Cream granite came from IRG in Brisbane (they also have a place in Dublin), and going there to look at Granite (or marble, limestone, etc.) is a fascinating experience. You should go there to look if you haven't already done so. IRG does not do fabricating; they just supply the granite and they have an overwhelming inventory from which to choose. They also are very helpful (we talked with Alexis) and will tell you the different prices of the stones (some places don't). Of course, that is just the granite itself, but it helps you narrow the selection down.

thanks for the recommendation of Northbay Stoneworks. you know a place must be good when more than one person independently recommends it. But alas, I am on the peninsula, so I think Novato might be a bit too far for us (we have very fidgety one year old twins, so the trip up there would be horrific for us).

Marble and Stone Solutions in San Jose does nice work and delivers all over the peninsula. I would avoid Canada Marble and Stone in San Carlos, the work is good but can be difficult on the business side. In general all fabricators pick up/deliver all over the peninsula.

I also recommend IRG in Brisbane and Peitra Fina in Hayward for stone section.

We used Bracho in Fremont (maybe Newark). We'd already selected our slab (All Natural stone in SJ--very nice place to shop, and not just because of the donuts) and the price was recalculated with the fabricator's discount. Our job wasn't complicated but was installed very well and very FAST (and without a seam that our GC's fabricator said we'd need).

Well, if you are on the peninsula, you should definitely go to IRG and look at the marvelous selection of granite and other stones that they have. Though it might be difficult with one-year-old twins!

South Bay - Marblus Granite (Lucia is the owner). Did a very nice job on my bathroom vanities.

Avoid Alpha Granite & Marble. They did an ok job on my granite counters (kitchen) but getting them to come back to fix a crumbling seam took forever with many missed connections and poor communication.

I don't think you'll regret it if you end up going to IRG--even if you decide to buy elsewhere. It is fascinating to see what wonders nature can create! Before we went the first time, I thought all granite looked like what you see at HD, etc. But how wrong I was!

We are in Woodside and used Tikal Tile in Redwood City on Bay Rd. My GC uses him and we were very happy. I didn't deal with him (Jose) directly, but did visit my slabs once they arrived there and also after they templated to see where they would be placed on the slab.

I bought my slabs at All Natural Stone in Santa Clara (San Jose?). When I went to pay for them, and said who my fabricator would be, they automatically gave me his discount.

Tikal Tile also did my backsplash and did a really nice job on that, too!

I bought my granite from All Natural and Castro picked it up when I was ready for it and took it to the shop for templating. They worked with me for an hour while I tried to decide on the lay out.

They were professional and did a great job. No issues so far!

I can recommend Scan-Top in Redwood City. They were great at helping fix the problems that were caused by Stone Etc.'s poor installation of our Vetrazzo countertops. Good Luck!
