New question... like your pot filler faucets?
Comments (5)I'm trying to make that same decision myself. There have been other threads on the same subject. Argument for: Convenience and great look. No need to lift a heavy pot out of the sink and maybe scratch or chip a fire clay sink. Faster fill bec pot fillers suposedly produce more gpm (but not all, some were still 2.5 gpm). Neighbor has hers plumbed to the hot water line. ..(One GW'r said not to drink water from hot line, but another said it didn't matter bec they no longer use lead solder.) Argument against: Wouldn't really use it that much. Extra expense (rough plumbing and fixture cost, $300 - $1000 ?? More things to leak and go wrong. Do you match to shape and finish of main faucet? Just a few things to consider ... HTH...See MoreDumb question about hot water fillers & pot fillers
Comments (7)The house we are renovating had a hot water tap at the sink. I was impressed. I'm a tea drinker, and it made it so easy. I also used it to clean a pot or pan, sort of a squirt of the very hot water to sanitize it. Of course I only used it one weekend we stayed at the house before demo. I took it out and didnt replace it for two reasons. One, even though we have well water, i prefer to drink (and make tea with) spring water. Two, my sink has two faucets , a soap and a sprayer. Thats a lot of bling already. Pot fillers. I put one in the kitchen in my old house 8-9 years ago. Loved it, could not do without it. If only you could drain the water too....See Morebeaglesdoitbetter - question about your pot-filler
Comments (3)The reason that I told you to put it into the adjacent cabinet was because the typical cooktop barely fits into it's base cabinet as it is. If you do a 36" cooktop in a 42" base cabinet, then you may have room for all of the electrical and plumbing in the cabinet. (Look how large Beagles cabinet is in relation to the cooktop size.) If you're trying for a 36" in a 36" cabinet, there simply isn't enough room for everything to clear properly. Not to mention the hole in the stone for the filler is too close to the hole for the cooktop and you take the chance of it cracking. You want at least a couple of inches of room between the two for strength....See MorePot Fillers! Countertop vs wall mounted? Placement over burners?
Comments (65)Kudzu, there are many posts in this thread, and other threads throughout GW on potfillers regarding how to avoid having the access to the shut-off valve walled in. “Trying to access plumbing from the underside is not going to be useful for most valves.” Most people have kitchen sinks, agreed? Access to shutoffs (hot and cold) is below the sink. Potfiller access can be the same (below the potfiller in a cabinet, or behind a drawer cabinet base. It’s not difficult. “For a pot filler, I'm simply saying that having it more accessible than in the wall is the choice I'd make.” Fully agree and it's the smart thing to do while installing one. Marcaevans, I wouldn’t want hot water at the potfiller. Hot water is handy for washing hands, dishes and rinsing dishes, but I never use it for cooking pastas, or adding to soups and stocks, or using in any of my cooking. Hot water is more likely to leach contaminants from the pipes. If I need hot water for cooking, I heat cold water on the stove or in the microwave. I really like your BBQ sink setup! Hduns, yep, it’s hard to find a deckmount PF in various styles and finishes!...See Morecotehele
