Cup pulls or knobs for stacked 5' spice drawers

Hi, I have a space filled in my bottom cabinetry with 5" spice drawers. I am planning a mix of cup pulls and knobs in my kitchen. Which should I do for the spice drawers? Thanks!

Because they're so small, I'd go knobs.
As a matter of fact, I am going knobs!

I went with cup pulls for two reasons:

(1) I used pulls on all the other drawers in my design
(2) My spice drawers do not have the soft-close feature that my larger drawers do and I found it sturdier to open/close the drawer with a pull. I have a small kitchen and use these drawers everyday because they store cooking utensils next to my range, so I wanted them to be easy to manage.

Oh I like the long ones shown in Segbrown's kitchen. Sabjimata, if the ones you are looking at from RH are like those, I think they would work nicely for one pull on the large drawers. However, I would go with something different (like a knob) on the small drawers or the two different bin pulls might get a little busy. Just my opinion. :) We actually have two bin pulls on our large drawers, but the glides are so nice that I could see how they would easily open with just one in the middle. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your help. Tearose you're right . . . not a big enough deal to drive myself crazy over it. Momj thanks for the suggestion but, although I like glass cup pulls and glass knobs, I have a different vision. I really like shiny polished chrome hardware. Positano your photos are deceiving. I would never have thought you have 3" on your shallow drawers for hardware, especially where you have a four drawer bank! Peyton I think our best solution is to either put drawer pulls or knobs on our shallow drawers. Unless, of course, we can find bin pulls that come in appropriate sizes (smaller for shallow drawers and larger for deeper drawers) with enough depth to be easy to grab onto. Sigh. I am getting tired of all this and can't wait for it to be over. Today they are finishing the demolition so I still have a ways to go.

So pretty, pretty PRETTY! I think sometimes I'm lucky to have to move so slowly on my whole house. I've changed my mind so many times, and have been able to incorporate so many cool ideas from here. One thing I have learned about myself, is that I use one hand for my drawers... usually. This means my 36" wide drawers are often going back in crooked. The Blums work, but my own handling of them causes them to be off a bit. When I have the presence of mind to open them in the middle, they move in and out fine. This, from one who has no pulls yet. I will be doing one, wider on each drawer.

Spice Pull out....knob or pull?

It measures 8.5 inches externally. I went with the pull and I'm very happy with my decision. Things, however, have been difficult today. He put a knob on the lazy susan...just one, but I wasn't sure this was the right thing to do. Clearly, I should have gone with my instincts because it won't work in either direction as the circumference of the knob is such that it gets caught coming and going :-( ...I'll have to remove until we figure out what to do. Then, while cleaning up after everything one of the glass shelves became loose and fell onto my granite. Glass shattered and there seems to be a minor penetration of the granite itself.....one more headache to work out. DH will be thrilled with me I'm sure. Hope your day has been better....I know, Annie, you've had some fun this week with your inspections so this must seem really petty to be upset about. Tracy

Thanks for the good points! Brooklyngalley, are your drawers 5" as well? I hope to store utensils in mine too - good idea (mine will be next to my range too)

Not sure if this will help, but I chose to only put cup pulls on the top drawers of our cabs (used pulls for the drawers lower down and knobs on the few doors we have). Although it's not a huge ergonomic issue, it's a little bit easier to grab a pull or knob than get your fingers under a cup pull on lower drawers. Can't take the credit, though....got the idea from mamagoose. :)
