Misty Carrera vs. Bianco River - Quartz Carrera Looks
Comments (6)Thanks alku05! I also design professionally and sometimes also obsess about choices I make for my clients. All my postings aren't for me alone, but it HAS taken me a long time to really decide what I want. It's much easier to design for other people, but a designer has so many choices and if their design likes span many styles it's often hard to make up ones mind ;-). Would be a lot easier if I only liked one style, but I think I have it all in place now finally. Was going to do a black counter until I saw this Bianco River. The other problem is I'm trying to use one slab for both the kitchen and bath counters....See MoreHow much a square ft. for Calcutta Gold
Comments (8)I was given a quote of $14,000 by my builder 5 1/2 years ago. He was using a company in Austin, TX, exclusively. If I went through my GC, I had to use that stone company. This was for 110 square feet, no backsplash, cutouts for a small cooktop, one undermount sink, one huge sink, a double waterfall edge on the island and a full bullnose edge on the perimeter. I think it was 2 cm, but I can't absolutely recall. I didn't end up using that company or Calacatta. There was no breakdown as to how much of the quote was stone and how much was fabrication. The slabs were acceptable, but not the best that I have ever seen. DH nixed the Calacatta idea altogether, so I didn't investigate further....See MoreCompac Unique Calcutta
Comments (52)Yes, I echo the real reviews above about Compac. We made the huge mistake of choosing this product. Looks over quality. We had the countertop installed in a NYC condo where only two adults live part-time and kitchen is used occasionally. The main slab where the sink is installed started chipping from the beginning and just kept on chipping on the edges everywhere with just the slightest contact with dishes. I was stunned. We have a second home with granite from the 1990s that was heavily used by families over the years and not a single ding, chip anywhere. The amount of chipping is just not normal. I have lived in many places with various countertop materials and never had any issues like this. The installer and Compac would not stand behind the product and said chips are your own fault. So when you see them respond in these threads, in our case, I can attest, it is simply pretending online to want to help. We made this mistake. I caution you not to make the same mistake. It is a very soft, chip prone product. Go with something harder. These are some big chips. Tried to fill, but Compac keeps on chipping....See MoreCalcutta Marble... laminate advice appreciated!
Comments (4)Hi Lena! We decided to ask a member of our Design Team if they had an answer to your question. Here is what she had to say "Have you considered a white small, hexagonal tile with a light grey grout? That would tie in the Calcutta Marble look and the Satin Stainless very nicely. The white subway tile would do the same thing but in a more traditional way! I’m hesitant on the green glass tile. That’s introducing a color, albeit a subtle color, in a manner that is permanent. You have to really love that color! The same would go for the idea of back painting a clear glass tile, it’s very permanent." Hope this helps you in your quest to a fabulous kitchen!...See Moreremodelfla
