what under-sink filters allow for other-brand faucets?

Any of you with nice beverage, cold-water faucets---which filter systems did you use if other than the same brand as faucet?

I'm wanting to know if any filter system can accept a different brand, better-looking faucet???

I didn't realize they came together - I thought they were two separate purchases. Try H20 International. I just ordered a filter from them, and I'm using a Delta faucet.

I used a Everpure filter with a Brasstech faucet. We also added the Everpure Polaria chiller. We now have cold bottled water out of the faucet. This was my favorite splurge in our new home.

kaismom - not to tell you what you should like or how it should be made but, in tea circles it generally acknowledged that only black teas get steeped with "boiling water" with the exception of "bagged" black tea. Most of the others get bathed in much cooler water, especially green teas which generally get steeped in 175 degree water or thereabout. Well below boiling. SO, these hot shots could even be fine for tea snobs not making a pot from loose black teas. Some of the heaters even get real close to boiling, too so they'd be fine for non purists wanting a fast cup, which is pretty much the point of an "instant hot water heater" ! A much bigger variable in a good cup is the water quality and the steeping time. Besides, people use these for instant cider , hot chocolate, filling the pasta pot for a quicker boil, gassing up the hot water bottle, and a few other things. I'll agree with you that these things are not really for the ritualistic tea connoisseur. (S)he is probably not going to to even consider this anyway as a cup is just as much about the "process" and the vessels as it is the nectar.

The specs indicate that the 600A will work fine when installed in series in the cold water supply to the cold faucet. You'll need to get the proper hardware to make the connections. If you're smart you'll allow for a graceful retreat back to the way the plumbing was if your don't like the filter or it fails or needs service. Is there a particular aspect of your water quality you don't like because these filters will only do so much.

Does this filter supply an additional faucet or does it supply the cold faucet at the sink? Since you mention COPPER tubing it most likely uses a compression fitting and you may have kinked or cracked the tubing. If you don't know what you're doing then the easiest solution is to get someone in there to correct the problem or shut off the water and remove the filter along with the tubing and take it to someone who knows what they are doing and can advise you. Any help we can provide is based SOLELY on your ability to accurately describe the components and the problem. You will have to either accurately describe the problem and components or post a picture or move it closer to the screen so we can see it. If you are intent on replacing the filters yourself the installation might be improved to make that easier for you.

We have the water filter at the main sink. Not only is it closer to the glasses; it's closer to the espresso machine and tea things and to the baking center. That's convenient for making bread dough. We also find other advantages to having it at the main sink. Ours is instant hot water as well as cool. When cleaning just a pot or two, it is convenient to add some hot water from it to the tap water to get warm water for washing instead of waiting for the hot tap water to arrive (and it saves water). Someone who needs water doesn't have to disturb someone using the prep sink. For example, getting rice started while someone else preps for a stir fry.

We found a 3M "filtrete" under sink filter at Lowes. It connects inline with your faucet's cold water so you don't have to have a separate spigot for filtered water. There is no loss of water pressure. We have been using ours since October of last year and replaced it once so far. The replacement process is very easy. We have a Delta "touch" faucet.

Okay--so it's common to have them different. I didn't know. I guess the ones I'd been seeing (for example, a Culligan one from amazon.com--it had a little faucet that would look weird with my regular faucet) are obviously meant to go together, but otherwise, you don't have to.

Chocolatetruffle--is the Delta faucet you mentioned a "beverage faucet"? I'm using Delta fixtures but didn't see a beverage faucet.

Me again....

I've found a faucet that has a similar look to the Delta Victorian faucet we ordered. It's the Waterstone Annapolis. There are 2 choices for hole size: 1/2" and 1 1/16". Is the size dependent on the filter system (which I haven't finalized yet--still researching)? So....do I need to know which filter system I'm going to be using before I buy a faucet? Aaarrgh. The granite fabricator will be doing this next week!

And me yet again....seems I didn't read close enough. Never mind previous question. The larger hole is for the HOT water only (or combo). The 1/2" is for the cold-water.

Tracey - Sorry, I wasn't really clear in my earlier post. I'm not using a faucet dedicated to filtered water. I have the Delta Linden pull out (not yet installed). The H20 International filter will be installed "in line" with the cold water line under the sink so all the cold coming out of the regular Delta faucet will be filtered. I didn't want a separate faucet for the filtered, although you can get one if you prefer that.

Chocolate--I kinda thought that's what you meant. I don't want to be changing out filters all the time (gets pricey), which is why I don't want it on the regular faucet where a lot of water gets used.

Soggydollar---I think I've settled on the Everpure H-300. I found it on amazon.com as a "drinking water system" (not just the filter replacement). Do you know if it comes with everything you'd need to install it (sans the faucet)?
