Backsplash FINALLY going in!!

OK, my kitchen was "finished" in late January 2008. All I had left to do was decide on a backsplash and have it installed. Seems easy, right? HA!!

I went through 8 zillion iterations of possibilities and, after almost three and a half years, what did I settle on? Yep, that's right...off-white subway tiles.

Now, I couldn't just pick any old subway tiles. I had to have handmade, matte finish tiles. For some reason, these had to be special ordered. They were supposed to arrive in 3 to 4 weeks. That was March 4. They arrived last Thursday.

So, of course I couldn't wait until the tiles were all up and grouted, etc., to share them here. The tile guys took a short break, so I ran out and snapped a bunch of pictures. Rjr220, thanks for the recommendation of Sal--he's wonderful and remembers your job fondly. :)

Here it is...not grouted yet, not even completely installed yet, but already looking very different than the plain painted walls I've lived with for more than three years...

(The grout will be very close to the color of the tile, so they won't pop quite so much when it's all done.)
