I know you all aren't going to believe this....but, I ordered tile yesterday and my B/S will be going in next Thursday! Shall I leave you in suspense til the final reveal??????

@slonewby: It's interesting you are somewhat struggling with backsplashes. I have similar colour kitchen and have been struggling with the same for about 3 weeks now. All the stone looks beautiful but you don't want marble to compete with the granite. Subway tiles it is... here in canada nearly impossible to find subway tiles the right size and colour.. i wanted 2x4 which comes in two colours and wrong shades. I am finally giving up and going with 3x6 in somewhat of a cappuccino colour. You posted this tile which should work well: Plain white is good but i wanted to give some colour to backsplash then the cabinets my cabs are sky white and granite has beige, black, yellow/orange (delicatus superba). Once my backsplash is done i will post some pics...

jennifereckle75, we sell a lot on Craigslist (furniture, large machinery, cars, you name it!) Might I suggest you visit your local area CL, look at the prices for cabinets such as the one you have (and keep an eye on what sells, what doesn't), consider the condition and age, and then you can make a more informed decision on what you might be able to sell it for. We are re-purposing our old laminate cabinets to use mostly in the garage (base cabinets, some uppers) and using a few uppers in the utility room as well - I intend to add wood trim around those, chalk paint (smooth with satin poly), and update the fixtures. After the reno, our neighbor wants our fridge, and we hope to pretty much give away our range and DW on CL here.

No absolutely have never felt they are too high - I feel like lower would be annoying for conversation because when we host we routinely have people at the island while we are cooking and preparing , setting out food etc. I got our tiles from a local tile store- there wasn't a brand name on the box. it just said Made in Spain.

Slow done a bit on the decision making for a moment. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Your painted surfaces need to be primed anyway so that would be a good place to start. The paint store can tint your primer, a good one is BenMoore FreshSart, It is very durable on its own and can act as a 'decision neutral color' to help your choices by knocking out the existing color. Just might be an 'ah ha' moment when that wall color is gone. Paint out the baseboard that is part of your backsplash also. The white is distracting. Another trick is to pick up a 6 pack of white poster board. (they even have it at any pharmacy usually or hobby store). Paint choices on your boards, two side can give you 12 choices. Maybe a friend or neighbor has a wall color you might like...they probably have some left over... they could give you a small container of. I use a large masking self-stick, low-tack paper. That way i can quickly apply a large section during a 5 min. meeting. 10 out of 10 times the client does not believe the color is what they chose previously. I also have multiple alternatives that i create that is what i 'think' they meant. You are not alone in being a bit frustrated at this point. Ultimately it is your choice, your kitchen. Your granite is the star and the big ticket element. Swimming in a sea of oak AND a busy decorative backsplash might just confuse the eye.

Really? you want me to tell you?? Awwwww...shucks, I guess after ALL of the drama/confusion/suggestions/trials and big errors, it *is* sort of mean.

Okay.....are you ready? Drum roll please..............

We went with the cream beveled subway...no accents other than the decorative switchplates. While it looks a little too white in the photos, it is such a soft, elegant white in person...just enough creamy to make it dreamy and to fade away lusciously into the background. Pure white was too stark, the coffee colored one drew too much attention to itself and added a bit too much darkness and the linen was just "eh" and also kind of muddied up the granite.

I'm so excited and can't wait til it goes in!

I have to laugh a bit. This is what I wanted from the start. I've come full circle. I think it took this long to find "just the right white/cream" though. None of the others have worked like this one. And, best of all, hubby finally realized that color wasn't really what he wanted...it was "interest"...and the bevel is just enough for him after all!

Hopefully after it goes in, he won't say something like, "gee, the kitchen really needs color".....ahhhh!

Secondhalf: It's "Manhattan Series" beveled subway 3X6 in cream. They had the nicest cream out of SO many that we looked at. So many of them were pinkish our yellowish.

Looking at your choices together, it's hard to imagine anything else. Congrats! The tile just blends in so smoothly.

It's just absolutely perfect! I love it.
What a relief to have that decision made. I too went with my very first choice. All those months of searching and agonizing.

oh I think it's perfect also! love the switch plates with it and granite too!

oh, geez, that was a double post! What is going on with GW? I have no idea how that happened.

That tile is perfect. I remember I found a great creamy white for my BA before the Arabesques. It took a long time to find the right one.

So glad for you.

Gosh, I hope you didn't think I didn't like it....no way. It is perfect.

Love it!!!! Congratulations on finally figuring it out! Would you mind sharing what brand it is and the color name? The backsplash is still on our list and from the photo, it looks like that may work for us too.

Thank you everyone! I'm so happy to have found this cream....after looking at so many different ones!

Here is the info: From the sample board....
Manhatten Series MN11/B36 Cream 3X6 beveled edge

Best yet, the price is just $4.68 per sq foot! Honestly, I've been looking at tiles that range from $6-$31 per square foot. To think that my very favorite is under $5 really amazes (and delights!) me!

I can't wait to post photos of the finished project....right now I have to order more switchplate covers!

Sure a2gemini, the counters are none other than Bianco Antico granite.

There are several BA owners on this list...and, many of them, like me, don't have backsplashes yet! It's a lovely stone but not easy to work colors with~
