Tall people...how deep is your sink?
Comments (10)I am 5'12" and my sink is 11" deep undermounteed beneath 3 cm granite and countertop height is about 37-1/4". We do use a grid in the sink. I wondered if it would be too deep -- read that touch your knuckles on the bottom and all that. I decide that was hogwash. I don't drag my knuckles on the bottom of the sink and who does? I am usually holding something well above that under the water stream or possibly setting something down or picking something up that likely has edges well above the bottom of the sink -- and that's not where I'm going to stay with it. We got the deep sink we loved and that seemed bes, but we also picked a faucet with decent height and reach. I think that makes a bigger difference for your back than the sink depth. If you think about it, when you are washing, you are reaching under the water stream, and if that is low or too far to the back, you are leaning in and reaching. That is far more stressful on your back than a slight bend to pick up a few times. If you go with a shallower sink, you limit your work room -- and if you go higher on the faucet, you'll get splattering for sure. My vote is get a deep sink, but pick your faucet carefully....See MoreAnyone regret getting a single 10" deep sink?
Comments (41)We love our single 24"x 10" deep sink! But this is a big move up for us. The old sink was a small "D" shaped 21"x8" single bowl. When my dad first saw my old sink he asked where the other bowl was because it looked like half of a double bowl! My DH is 6'4" and I was concerned that the new sink would bother his back, reaching down and into the sink. He sometimes complained about the reach down in the old sink. The grid in the new sink helps. And we usually have it piled with dirty dishes anyway so there isnt a reach reach down! Haha. We like having the full cookie sheet option. And I have a dishpan I can add if I want to split the space to soak anything....See MoreIs there a zero radius SS sink less than 10 inches deep?
Comments (22)I'm not sure if there's any major advantage to a zero radius sink. I bought the one that I have for a several reasons. First, I like the way it looks. Second, the bottom is flatter than most sinks, so there was less chance that wine glasses set in the bottom would accidentally tumble and break. Third, at the time that I chose my sink, there weren't many choices for a really large single basin sink unless you went to a zero radius model. I don't know if it's stronger than a stamped sink, and frankly I don't think it matters. Either type would be perfectly adequate from a strength point of view in a residential setting....See MoreIs a 10' deep sink too deep?
Comments (7)From what I read, the deeper sink is less of a problem for short people than for tall since tall folks have to bend over more. I find that to be true with my short but deep utility sink in the laundry room so I was worried about buying a 10" deep sink (which appears to be std for good economical sinks). However, I haven't had a problem with the depth yet and I'm 5'8", not extremely tall, but.... In any case 10" is ok for me....See Morechrissiemw
