Orange stains, NOT rust
Comments (46)Orange inside three dressers and a book case...very strange. Dressers being damaged by something destructive...eaten up with holes and splitting wood. It is also on kitchen cabinets. Orange spots on garage floor and circles o white wooden shelving with splitting. Pest man said orange circles on wood a definite kind of mold. Orange streaks on wooden fences. Black holes and split on fences. Stuff in my cars...finally tried ozone generator...orange circles on the OUTSIDE of the car! Orange spot on new shirt...a white shirt being eaten up and also socks. My house is clean and cars too. Just found strange blob of sticky white stuff on top of pulled out drawer...I seldom get in it. Beside tiny blob a spot that has dried and has super tiny black bugs? Now in my car a a super tiny black bog or ? Left sticky or smudge mark. Also have larger smudge that will not come clean...very near tiny bug.Dark black markings on some wood in kitchen and den...weird and pest control says no termites. Feel like I am totally going crazy....See MoreRO system with well water?
Comments (16)The service manager was to be here between 8 and 9 this morning. So finally at 11am, I called his cellphone. "Oh, I got tied up, I am on my way to your house now". Very nice, as I took 1/2 day vacation, and now must take the rest of the day off. (Actually had to switch shifts, so now I get to work midnight shift tonight in the ER). Anyway......he shows up at 12:45, states he will only be here for 30 min, and we will have soft water again. Ha. An hour and a half later, he declares something inside the head was partially clogged with sediment, and he replaced the clogged part, and after a few regenerations, we should be good to go. The jury is still out, as the second tank will need to be regenerated again this evening, and the hot water tank completely flushed, yet again. I asked him what the next step will be if this doesn't fix the problem-his answer, "there won't be a next step because I am confidant your problem is resolved". So. If it recurs, I will call corporate directly. Six days with hard, nasty water is enough. And 4 days of vacation that I have used waiting for their service techs over the last 4 months. Geesh. We have really "bad" water, so we will stick with Kinetico-had an "offbrand" when we first moved in that did nothing, and at least this system has done a good job for many years. Keeping my fingers, toes and eyes crossed! Thanks for all of the info!...See MoreWhole house water softening systems
Comments (3)RO does stand for Reverse Osmosis. RO is almost exclusively smaller drinking-water-only add-on system. The best ones work very, very well. However, RO systems for whole-house supply are humongous and prohibitively expensive. Don't even think about it. Softeners are common and work well. Many people get both -- as I have at two locations. My systems are Kineticos which are on the upper end price-wise. However, they've been trouble-free for 16 years now. I just did total refurb. on both last year for a couple hundred each and am continuing with peerless performance. I recommend them without hesitation. Start by having your water quality measured. Then size and specify according to what learned. Depending on your existing plumbing, installation can be easy or a pain...but seldom much of a pain. You'll want to segregate household supply from irrigation supply. No sense in watering plants and washing cars with soft water....See MoreSTPP arrived, First time for me!!!
Comments (6)Way to go Larsi....yep STPP will keep everything behind the scenes in the washer clean, remember it does more than soften water, it holds all the nasties in suspension and keeps it from redepositing on fabrics and the machine. A good rule of thumb is 1 part stpp to 2 parts detergent by weight, I don't think many people want to be weighing this stuff lol..stpp weighs more than powder detergent, I usually premix my favorite detergent and stpp using 3/4's cup stpp to 2 cups detergent. You can't premix with liquid detergent but you can use stpp with liquid. .I know you like charlies booster, but doesn't it doesn't have the benefits that stpp does. Seems pricey at first until you get the dosage correct, but reguardless its so worth it to me. It also aids in more detergent removal from fabric so better rinsing..have fun playing...hope you enjoy....your package was mailed today....See Moreremodelfla
