I think the better question is how far from the floor. I have a pet peeve against pendant lights hung so low that you have to be sure to look between them if trying to have a conversation across a counter. And they should be high enough that a tall guest (such as 6'5") can easily see beneath them if standing near them. I have the same comment for range hood heights. My tall husband gets frustrated to duck to cook with some range hoods.Or, to bump his head if he forgets to avoid hitting it. lafdr

Thanks---I think we are using 6" wide open shades with these, though they also make an 8" wide shade that's similar so that's an option too. I looked at it again this morning and think I would need to have the electrician move it---they're not planning to come back till we're ready them to put the outlets and switches on for final inspection, so I'm thinking I should just let this one go, and if it really becomes an issue once we're using the kitchen, worry about it then....moral of the story: post these questions before the work rather than after!! (You'd think with the number of questions I've already posed here that there wouldn't be much left to ask... ;)

Hello everyone!! I NEED HELP!!! I purchased 2 Duke Oversized Pendants (16 inch overall diameter) in 2020 on Pottery Barn site. They make my whole kitchen!! The glass on one of them broke and Pottery Barn site says No Longer available! Ive been in tears for weeks!!! Can anyone tell me where I can find one of these?? My email is ginamt2@yahoo.com. I really love your 3rd option with the 2 lanterns. I wouldn't worry about it looking stark in there and having a big contrast with the black. It may look that way now, but you don't have any furniture in there yet or accessories. Take a few cues from the photos below. Make sure to implement more warm wood tones or natural fibers such as wood or seagrass stools and a tray or basket on the island. Faux or real greenery, wood cutting boards leaning against the backsplash, a vase filled with your wooden spoons. These small details will really warm the room up! Congrats!
