The part of the clip holding the bolt should be fairly level when you begin and when you are done. This means that the bolt will be vertical and acts like a jack screw as the threads push down on the clip and that tensions the bracket on the sink. So now you need some method to capture and securely hold the end of the bolt without it popping out, or splintering wood under the counter. Drilling a part way hole in the underside of the counter might work or you might need to glue and nail another piece of wood of suitable thickness with a hole drilled in it first. The clips aren't meant to take a lot of pressure anyway, more of a way to keep things steady while the silicone sealant sets up.

My granite company has also requested my sink and faucet to make sure the cuts are perfect. (I DO like perfect!) Like chris45ny's, they will also be in their original packaging. If you are concerned, perhaps your fabricator can provide for you the details of what would transpire should something happen to your sink, etc. while in their care. I'd bet they have liability insurance for just such a rare occasion. But as for being a commonplace request from a reputable granite company, the answer is yes.

Hi Doonie! /slaps head! I totally forgot that Silgranit makes a brown color. Duh! That looks fantastic with the counter. I have no idea what's happening yet with my backsplash. I had picked out flooring the other week which I loved, but it wasn't going to come in for a while and I couldn't take the chance of it not showing up since I'm supposed to move in 3 weeks from now. So, I'm off to a large showroom tomorrow to hopefully find something else in stock. Backsplash is totally in the air. I think I'm going to live with the counters for a while before making any decision. The lighting in my room is so unknown right now that I can't even visualize what should be correct. When I purchased the house, it had 2 small windows, received no direct sunlight at all and was really a depressing room. I took out one window and am replacing it with a 6' slider but it hasn't gone in yet so I don't know how much light it will be letting in (the other small window over the sink remained in a stupid error which I will probably kick myself over forever). All new lighting is going in, including task lighting so again, I just don't know what this will do to the room. Jumping into something doesn't seem wise at the moment.

If you use lisa_a's with 2 entrances to the pantry it may just vent itself easily as I'd imagine the pocket entry door to it from the garage may stay open or ajar frequently. You could possibly fit it in the bump back to match the entrance stairs. Fridges in garages are pretty common around here but we have more issues with freezing temps than overly hot. Otherwise I'd put it in that spot in the garage where the writing says small appliances for inside the kitchen. That's not far of a walk at all.
