There are tons of places in the area (I am north of Boston). What type of cabinets are you looking for? Custom or semi-custom? I actually got my cabinets in Salem, NH at a place called Norfolk Kitchen and Bath - I would consider their design services only fair (although they will do as many renditions as you want for free), but I was able to work with them and come up with a layout I liked. That being said, the cabinets I got (Showplace) were a good deal for a semi-custom line (about $3500-5000 less than comparable lines). They have excellent turnaround as well - about 4-5 weeks (mine are coming in the week of the 26th).
I'd be happy to give you the names of the other places I checked out as well if you are interested.

OK. Other than Norfolk, I went to Boston Kitchens (they carry Wellborn, Ultracraft and a few others) - locations are Middleton, Wilmington (and some others that don't come to mind). Price wise they were 2nd cheapest. I went to Jackson Lumber in Lawrence (they carry Wood-Mode & Brookhaven). Finally, I checked out Mede Kitchen & Bath - they are in Danvers now (formerly in North Reading) - they carried the Omega lines (Dynasty/Embassy & Custom). Of the places, Mede was the most expensive. I have heard nice things about Moynihan lumber (several locations) but didn't go there personally.
If you have a complete kitchen design that you like that will probably save you some time as they'll be able to quote more quickly using your existing layout.

Try Kichen Sales in West Bridgewater. They carry several types of non-custom cabinetry and are very helpful. Talk with Kristine and see if she can help you get cabinets in your time frame

I'm a freelance kitchen designer in the south of Boston area and like to use either Cabicos (frameless) from Penny Pincher Outlet in Walpole or Omega/Dynasty (framed) from Cape Cod Lumber in Mansfield.

I live just north of Boston, and used IKEA from Stoughton. I highly recommend them. They have software to help you design the kitchen. You can pick up the cabinet boxes the same day you order. Some of the door front styles are held at the store and some take 2 weeks to arrive. They are so simple to assemble that either you or your GC could do it (we had the GC do it, but in retrospect I would do it myself, they're so easy). And they're in a different class when it comes to quality than other IKEA furniture. Plus they're dirt cheap.

If its convenient, try KitchenWorks in Acton.

We were extremely satisfied with the cabinets that we arranged through the Boston Building Materials Coop in Roxbury. The design people are incredibly nice, the prices are quite reasonable, and we wound up with a sheaf of Candlelight Cabinetry in quarter sawn white oak that multiple neighbors have oohed and aahed over since.

They can also hook you up with Aldrich Stone, who put some spectacular soapstone countertops on top of said quarter sawn white oak.
