Sometimes I've had luck with the BBB and other times NO - with my hotwater heater and the home warrenty company - great luck - with my car/chevy no luck and other issues no luck... it's hard to guess... with that, I'd say you probably should start with the BBB, also see if your county has a consumer affairs office (ours does) and you may need an attorney or small claims court.

BBB has the most success arbitrating with BBB members and varying success with non-members, which is why it is a very good idea to only deal with BBB members. I used BBB once several years ago with Sprint, who became much more accommodating after BBB intervened because a count of "unresolved" is a big blemish and a pattern of abuse will lead to public banishment from BBB. Later on, I was able to be on a local BBB board, and saw how they worked. I always investigate companies before I spend much $ anymore, especially online. It is one of the best non-profit, non-govermental funded agencies in the U.S.A. and now expanding into other countries. Good luck with your problem. Go to BBB.org

Is you KD associated with a company or a store. Can you talk to the owner/manager first? A few week delay is not uncommon. The fact that you can still reach the guy is a good sign - he hasn't yet absconded with your money. If he really has cheated you, an attorney will be much more effective than the BBB - but make sure this isn't a legitimate delay - can you call the cabinet company directly and see if he placed the order?

Unfortunately the company is owned by the KD and he's the only employee. I called the cabinet company, but they refused to give me any info and told me that I should get all my info from him.

I ordered a couple of additional cabinets through another distributor and those were shipped to me within 3 weeks (vs. the 7+ weeks that I have been waiting for for the cabinets I ordered through this KD), making his excuses a little fishy........

Looks like the guy used to be a member of the BBB, but not any more. I found one complaint against him for a late delivery...looks like he's a habitual offender?

its one week....which isnt time for red flags...really! if you feel there are issues...cancel the credit card transaction.

i used to be on the board of a state bbb....its a joke most often and i certainly wouldnt look to that as my only weapon in a war with a business.

I filed a BBB report a few months ago and I've heard nothing so far. teh appliance repair shop took 6 months to get the part need to fix my washing machine- imagine 6 motnsh without a washing machine and constantly being told the part would come in any day.

I read a post here once where someone had gotten resolution by contacting their local news station. I would say it is too early for that, but something to keep in mind, especially if he stops answering the phone...

I filed a complaint once with the BBB. The store was a member and at first agreed to arbitration. Then, for some reason, they changed their mind and would not go to arbitration. Said their minds were made up and they weren't changing them. So, I hate to say it, but being a member of the BBB doesn't always mean you will get the help you are after. Any business has the right to refuse to arbitrate.

It was a total waste of time filing with the BBB against Cambria for my defective quartz countertop.

I'm sorry you're having these problems with your KD. I don't like surprises either and no one should make promises they can't keep. The delivery time should've been projected later so you'd be happy when they arrive "early". Our cabinets took a few weeks longer than we hoped but they were sure worth the wait. As far as getting your money back, if they already started building your cabinets you're more than likely out of luck.

I filed a complaint against Sears, and it went fairly well. They basically started giving me the fair treatment I had been asking for for months once my BBB complaint went through. Before that, I was blown off left and right. I think such things are more likely going to come to a satisfying resolution with a large company than with a small one.

What cabinet line did you buy? I've been the Kitchen and Bath Industry for over 25 years.Most manufacturers will try to help you in a situation like this. You might try calling them and asking for the name of the local rep. Then contact him and explain that you are concerned about this situation and just want confirmation that the order was actually placed and is not on credit hold or never placed. Never pay in full for your cabinets up front with a small company. No cabinet manufacturer that I'm aware of would require any payment from a dealer in good standing until cabinet delivery. I don't want to scare you more but your dealer may have used your money to get someone else's cabinets off the truck and be waiting to close another sale to get the money to pay for your cabinets. And of course there are plenty of other places for the money to go too. If the rep can't help you, ask for the president of the cabinet company and don't give up until you get some kind of confirmation of where your order is. This sounds like a risky situation and the sooner you know the true status of your order you can act to get the dealer to resolve this. You could also go to the Kitchenpros.com website and post this problem with the name of the manufacturer and the area of the country you live in and probably find someone who could hook you up with the right person to talk to at the factory. Stuff like this gives our whole industry a black eye. Sorry not to be more positive but I've seen too many situations like this over the years. I hope it turns out well for you.
