We just bought an entire kitchen's worth of Numerar countertops (30 feet of perimeter plus large island) a few weeks ago. Numerar's one of their most popular countertops, so I'd be surprised if it's not readily available in several lengths at your IKEA. You can certainly call the store ahead of time and ask (IKEAfans.com has great details on how to get through directly to the Kitchen department at any given store), and since it's a long drive, it's probably a good idea. But I wouldn't have any real worries about it not being in stock or on the verge of being discontinued or anything.

They have stock sizing. We used the 73" X 39" for our separate peninsula and had a woodworker to the sink cut-out and routing. We also used the Lagan (now discontinued) for the seat of our banquette, which DH cut and joined together himself; the joint is covered by a cushion. IIRC, Lumber Liquidators also sells BB countertops in longer lengths. Or did you mean deeper, as in from front to back? You may have to go more custom route if you have more depth. BTW, we have plenty of cut BB scraps, and none of them look like EmikoF2's. That definitely looks like a "bad" batch. So sorry. :(

I can't speak to the quality of the non ikea butcher block, but I can't imagine that they are better quality because my ikea butcher block is unbelievably beautiful. I wish I knew how to post a pic here because I think people would be shocked. I think it was the waterlox that brought out the beauty of them though, I sanded and water loxed at least 6 times, and not only are they gorgeous, but they are bullet proof. They don't scratch, stain, or anything. I'm pretty shocked. They have a gorgeous rich color, they look like a custom job. My aunt has the same ikea counters and didn't water lox and I don't care for them though.

Hi, homepro01. The reason I didn't state a budget is because it is a bit of a moving target. I don't have a budget just for the island, it's for all the counters in the house. Thus, I am doing a lot of option exploring and shifting around to try to find a combination that works and is as close to budget as possible. I'm finding that our GC's initial countertop budget was kind of a joke, though. :-( Thanks for the fastener link! That looks really useful!
