Help choose a grout color please.

I am getting subway tiles in biscuit color, I can't do white because the color in my granite(sienna bordeaux)is more cream colored and the white didn't look right against the granite. The granite is pretty light and has lots of gray. My cabinets will be a light pewter color and my wall color is off white. What grout color should I use for the biscuit subway tiles? Thank you.

You've got to take the time to do a trial of a color or two you think might be right. Stick some of your tile on a piece of scrap plywood, mix up some grout and give it a try. Use broken pieces if you've got them. Prop it up on your counter and have a look at different times of day. You'll find one that is right.

I was watching something on HGTV the other day and saw a bathroom that had a grout color that was just so wrong. Had they done a trial with colors other than white it would have been so much better! A stitch in time and all that...

It depends on what color you want the biscuit color tiles to look like. If you want them to look creamier, use a light gray grout, if you want them to look whiter, use a beige color grout. But I guess if you don't really know, then the suggestion to try a couple of colors on a board may help.

I would love to see a picture. I have my pics on photobucket, but there are other on line storage sites. From there, I copy the html code (by clicking on it, and a tiny sign says "copied"), then I paste it right into my message. A way to test grout color is to put some dry grout into the cracks of a portion of your mosaic. Then vacuum and blow it out. That is how I chose the colors for this little table. The warm tan looked better with the table colors than gray. I had already grouted the bird dark grey as I wanted it to look like lead. I chose gray for a lamp I made because it had bluish pinks in it and I thought that gray complemented that better than tan. I never use white, but I have a friend who does and her things are beautiful. Her tess tends to be light background tho. Hope this helps, Kathy

I assume you have children. I assume you are looking for spill and mess tolerant. I will assume the budget is strict. I will ALSO assume you will be back here asking how to bring the space to life. Don't purchase mud if you can avoid it. The selection above is better, but still heavy and dark on the carpet. Must you have wall to wall carpet in the family room is the question, and must you have tile? Sectionals are first SIZE and fit to a space. ........first things first, here.. And yes..........where IS the counter top selection., please !!?

You will need to bring home a full sample set of grout like a presealed Laticrete in order to best decide. Hold up the sample slivers in the space to find the grey/pink/beige tone that best blends with that tile.

search for a taupe...or a pewter that veers to clay-ish. light to medium in the intensity sounds right with your choices.

I'm with suzannesl; do a test. Last remodel we did, even just pouring some dry grout between a couple of tiles was very helpful. My taste is that the grout should disappear as much as possible.

We used a grout color called pearl. Pretty much matched the tiles and went with our gray granite and cream cabinets.
