I wouldn't count him out yet. Donald Trump has filed for bankruptcy multiple times also.

It wasn't Christopher Peacock personally, but the British corporation, Smallbone, that had purchased Christopher Peacock Cabinetry. Mr. Peacock had just sold it in September for $12.5 million, and is apparently interested in purchasing it back.

peacock cabinetry was sold to a UK company in 2008 and he no longer owns any of it he is an employee of the Smallbone co UK so are you saying that Smallbone Co has filled?

last month. Christopher Peacock is actually going to try

"Apr 21, 2009 (Connecticut Post - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX News Network) -- Christopher Peacock said he hopes to buy back the Norwalk-based furniture company that bears his name seven months after selling it to an English home furnishings company that later went bankrupt.

Peacock, who founded the company in 1992, has been trying to acquire Christopher Peacock Cabinetry from Barclays Bank, the receiver for Smallbone PLC, a Devizes, England-based firm that last month fell into bankruptcy as a result of the sluggish global economy, he said. He sold it to Smallbone for $12.5 million in September.

"It was the U.K. businesses that were in trouble, so the American companies were caught in the net," he said.

Smallbone bought Christopher Peacock Cabinetry to add to its other home furnishings companies -- Paris Ceramics USA of Stamford, Hopton Works, Mark Wilkinson Furniture and Smallbone of Devizes, all based in Devizes, said Lane Brooks, Peacock's vice president of communications.

"They were very interested in acquiring us because they wanted this high-end luxury conglomerative brand," he said.

An unknown number of bidders are interested in purchasing the Norwalk cabinet-maker, which has stopped depositing checks received from clients who recently have placed orders, Peacock said.

"We decided we should not take customers' deposits based on the uncertainty of the future of the business," he said, adding that he hopes a deal can be reached in a day or so. "It's a very strong company with a very good name and reputation for doing the right thing."

PricewaterhouseCoopers is overseeing the transaction.

Christopher Peacock Cabinetry, which has cut its work force to about 100 employees, has showrooms in Greenwich, Chicago and San Francisco and dealerships in Boston and Los Angeles. It also has a manufacturing facility in West Virginia.

"By buying it back, I am re-employing people and will be able to make good on clients that have placed orders with us and take on new clients," he said.

Peacock, who came from London as a furniture designer in the late 1980s, in 2007 founded Peacock & Beale, a home furnishings store in Greenwich, with interior designer Connie Beale.

Leo Caplan, a private investor from England, recently bought Hopton Works and Mark Wilkinson Furniture from Barclays. The hope is that Peacock will stay in Norwalk, said Ed Musante, president of the Greater Norwalk Chamber of Commerce.

"They have an excellent name," he said. "It would be a great ending to the story if he was able to get the company back and continue here."

Christopher Peacock has impeccable timing. He started his luxury business at the beginning of a quarter century of unprecedented economic expansion, and sold it just before the crash. Now he will be able to buy it back for many $ less than for what he sold it, and will probably be able to position the company for leaner times.

E gads my heart sunk and is now somewhat recovering...DH and I were just discussing the joy of a CP kitchen last night. I will have one, if I have to pull them out of bankruptcy myself LOL

I apologize if I have offended anyone in this forum however this is a forum used to explore ideas, advice and options. Being an independent cabinetmaker, I am one of the many other options available.

My credibility only comes from someone viewing my work as a professional. I have over 20+ years in this industry and can answer/solve or give advice to any of your questions if interested.

Wow, CP was a little too ornate for me, but I had set my heart on some of the walnut and silver cabinetry by Smallbones, if I ever won the lottery :-(

Again, I am the newbee...but while trying to decide about a cream v/s white kitchen, saw the references to Ch. Peacock kitchens, and learned that there was a store in Greenwich, CT. I decided that I was so lucky to not be TOO far away. I took a trip there this week! What I found was a locked door and a phone that rang busy! I contacted the business in MA and was told that he did buy back the business and would be reopening the Greenwich store on this coming Tuesday. I did a little inquiry about cost and from what I gathered, it is way out of my range. I also learned that he does sell paint too. FYI. Don't know if I will be taking another trip there for ideas, but I will call first for sure!!!!!
