What do you think of this? I don't need it but thought I would share. Think this is the real deal?

They're very unenthusiastic about it if it's genuine. If I was selling it, I'd be bragging about it with the words custom, designer, high-end, chic, etc. It does look real in the pics to my untrained eye.

I was wondering about the tattered Chis P logo on the side. If its all real someone could probably get a great deal in a nice budget range. Still wonder about that logo though. It reminds me of the years husband and I owned a restaurant and we had all these elderly scammers try an pull "the waiter spilled red wine on designer purse or shoes" trick. I have seen more than my fair share of clued on, tacked on, stitched on labels. Still, lots of cabinets for the price if one didn't mind doing some spiffing.

Mtn, That kitchen is one that I stared at carefully because, well, it's very me. Anyhow, as to your question, the owner of that kitchen is an artist and I think that is one of her paintings. I'm fairly certain that there is a sliding glass panel above the La Cornue and in front of the backsplash and it can protect the painting when necessary. Personally, I would never hang a good painting over a stove, but I would never tell an artist what to do with her own painting, either. Not to reopen the debate, of course. ;o)

I haven't had a chance to update this til now (had periodontal surgery on Friday, and have been pretty much out of it since then) - but did want to say that we got the CL piece, it's in place, and I really like it! Since we didn't have anywhere else to use, or even store, the old painted piece, we put it at the curb Friday evening (a bit reluctantly on my part -- after all, it was one of the first things I "created" when we moved into this house about six years ago). But it was picked up within about an hour, so I hope that it's making somebody else happy now. :-) DH doesn't want me to paint this piece, but I keep envisioning it in some kind of stain -- maybe a turquoise or red -- that would give it some color while still allowing it to look like a wooden stained piece. I'm not even sure if such a treatment exists, but I'm thinking it probably does -- I just don't know what to call it! Anyway, here are new pics. Oh, and it holds a lot of stuff too. With the exception of a couple of pair of presently unused 2" blinds, which were stored in the old piece, the new piece holds everything that I had stored in the other chest. I do wish it didn't have to be sandwiched in by the washer and dryer, but my hands are pretty much tied in that regard. ;-) (Must apologize for dark pictures again! I dunno what I'm doing wrong with the camera ...)

Try Ellen Kennon paints. She offers a free color consultation if you purchase her paints. If you don't she charges 200 per hour. I would bet that she could come up with something close. Her site is her name dot com. Ellen Kennon paint is full spectrum paint and she doesn't use black in her paints avoiding a muddy look. Her sample paints are reasonably priced as are her cutting samples. I would gladly send you mine after I decide on a color.

I heard that the latches Christopher Peacock uses are a rip-off from a company called Iceboxes.com. Sounds like urban legend stuff. Iceboxes.com has reproduction hardware: This is our reproduction hinge made from a hinge that came off an antique McCray icebox. The "McCray" name on the leaf was removed so we could use them on our iceboxes. And some that is original design, more or less: The horizontal latch is not a reproduction in the true sense of the word since it is our own design. We were forced to do this since we could not find an antique latch large enough for our needs. But as you can see it is still faithful to the "look" of an antique since the style of the latch was directly inspired by actual antique pieces. In fact the master patterns for the head of the catch and the handle were made from antiques.

Even if it's a less prestigious line, I'd want to know what was up. Is it that the wife with more woman's prerogative than sense decided she wanted Poggenpohl? Or are they stripping out anything they can sell ahead of foreclosure? If the latter, it's theft. Buyer beware.

Good point pllog! I have seen some of the darndest things in foreclosured homes down here. Some people smash holes in the drywall on the way out. Lots of air handles gone. My favorite is when they take all the builder grade faucets, fans, vanity tops, toilet seats and old used appliances.

Miami is not a hotbed for traditional looking New England cabinetry. I would not doubt for a second that the owner would prefer Poggenpohl, SieMatic or Boffi in that town.

If moving forward with a new kitchen, they just want it gone and won't give it away, but don't need a drawn out sales process either.

Hi antss, this kitchen is in Delray...whole different animal from Miami. It could be a home on the water where a complete gut is common. Fantastic buys on waterfront homes down here in our struggling RE market. The taxes will kill you though.

That does not look like a peacock kitchen to me. That logo is not what he uses for a logo now. The hardware doesn't look like anything I have seen before on his stuff. Perhaps most importantly the quality level doesn't appear to be up to his standards (at least from this view).
